Blåvatnet (the Blue Lake) is located in the Lyngen alps in Northern Norway. The water lends its blue colour to the high content of silt particles that is carried with the meltwater from the Lenangsbreen glacier, which can be seen in the center of the image.

Probably my fav image of Aorangi/Mount Cook so far. Really liked how the cloud parted to reveal the peak as if it's the big reveal.

Have finished another blog post. Here is the link...

I knew at some time my editing would catch up to some images that i wanted to do more work on. This is one.

Sunrise atop the Tongariro Alpine Crossing at Red Crater...The moon is setting to the top left with sunrise on the right. The Emerals Lakes are straight down the rock face front right. On a clear day you can see to Lake Taupo and Taupo town itself. Blue Lake is at the centre middle of the pano.

You would not believe it now, but 2020 started rather promising with a nice snowshoe hike on the sunny slopes of Höch Gumme (2204m), above the mist-covered Lake Brienz.

Couldn't resist a image just of Ngauruhoe with Pukekaikiore on the left and a prominate small peak near the Tama Lakes on the right. The three together just instilled a sense of balance...

A single yellow larch tree glows among the deep green spruces in the warm autumn light. In the background, snow-covered peaks rise beneath dramatic clouds – a powerful contrast between the seasons.

…from Birrholz, Horw, to the East with the South-West flank of the Rigi Scheidegg, Rigi Hohflue (1698m), Vitznauerstock (1176m), Bürgenstock (1128m, with the famous and quite preposterous elevator), and Lake Lucerne.

I took the picture during a hike around the stunning Tre Cime di Lavaredo in September last year. Located in the Eastern Dolomites in Northern Italy.

A bit of ice left in the Aiguilles de Chamonix.

In the wild heights of Valmasque Valley, a deep blue alpine lake rests quietly among jagged peaks and rocky slopes. The contrast between the dark water and the sunlit stone creates a dramatic visual harmony, while wisps of cloud drift across a clear sky. This untouched corner of Mercantour National Park evokes both awe and serenity—an invitation to explore, reflect, and reconnect with nature’s raw elegance in the French Alps.

A waning moon over Bifertenstock (3419m) and Piz d'Artgas (2787m) basking in the morning sun.

Tried so many different exposure times for this shot but the spray of water about halfway down the falls that shoots out just didn't look right at the faster speeds...if you can visualise what i mean. I'll just leave that to your imagination.

Have added this to my print store on the website..

A dark peak rises from the thick fog, like an island in a white sea. Behind it, the blue mountain ranges stretch out, crowned by snowfields that store water in its frozen form. Clouds, snow, and mist connect sky and earth – the image reveals the many forms of water in the mountains.

So good to explore these alpine places with some snow. Seems that this year there just wasn't that much and didn't last long either. At least these falls are just easy to get to. Challenge is to get a different style of image. Mount Ruapehu is in the background.

The Martinsloch is a rock hole in the Tschingelhörner range between Flims (Grisons) and Elm (Glarus). I finally breathe

Along a stretch of the High Route of Valmalenco. 2nd stage.

From here, Alpe Mastabbia offers a beautiful view of Bernina group. Free of dangers, it is extraordinarily varied and suggestive, as well as rich in ethnographic and naturalistic interest (talc quarries, soapstone quarries, mountain pastures).

Few things make the mighty Mount Assiniboine (3,618 m or 11,870 ft) seem small; but the milky way has to be one of them. This is a ten shot stack with all shots taken using a 50mm f1.8 prime at ISO 6400 and a 10 second exposure time. Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park, British Columbia, Canada.

“All truly great thoughts are conceived by walking” Friedrich Nietzsche. We have spent a fair bit of time this last month wandering among glaciers looking for thoughts. The shot taken on the Iceline trail in Yoho National Park, British Columbia, Canada. A spectacular trail if you ever get the chance to do it. Love Life, Love Photography

For our first full day in the Dolomites, we went all in. I know you're supposed to take it easy on day one, but I couldn't resist chasing the legendary view from Seceda — and it didn't disappoint.

We started at the Col Raiser cable car (2,100 m) and followed Trail #4, a 9.7 km loop with an elevation gain of just under 500 m. After about 90 minutes of hiking through open alpine meadows, we reached the Seceda ridgeline (2,500 m), where the Dolomites unfold like a natural amphitheater. You see the Sella Group, Sassolungo, Catinaccio, and of course, the iconic Odle peaks — sharp and dramatic against the sky.

Back home, while curating my photos, I decided to take a different approach and convert this one to black and white. Some trusted photographer friends encouraged me to push the contrast, like using an orange filter on film. I experimented a bit, and I must admit: I like how this version turned out.

It feels less like a postcard and more like a personal impression: a mood, a moment, a memory.

This is the main Waitonga Waterfall which can be a bit problematic to capture a decent image on a blue bird day. This is a 3 image blend for dynamic range.

Rottalhorn (3971m), Jungfrau (4158m), Wengen-Jungfrau (4088m), Mathildespitze (3554m). Jungfraujoch, Berner Oberland, Switzerland.

A picture from last year when the weather was very warm as can be seen from the avalanches on the Jungfrau flank. Last summer there was still quite a bit of snow on the Jungfrau peaks and the Jungfraufirn, whereas this year, it has been so dry and hot that almost no snow is left and the routes to the Jungfrau peak are not safe for mountaineers anymore.

Bietschhorn (3934m) with the Öugschtchummuhorn (2924m) in the bottom right corner.

During the whole week I was there, the mountains played hide and seek with me, mostly hiding behind thick snow laden clouds. I was quite lucky to get one of these rare moments of alpine enlightenment.
