The light of the setting sun touches the flanks of Piz Kesch (3417m), Piz Porchabella (3079m) and the remains of the Porchabella Glacier. Seen from Kesch-Hut (SAC).
The sun is rising in high Val Maira (Italy). The first glimpses of light and color begin to draw the entire landscape.
Frontally in plain sight: Mount Baueria (2.955 m), Mount Soutron (3.166 m), Rocca Blancia (3.193 m).

A quick bussiness trip to Taupo on week end made for a return thru National Park as you do. Was hoping for something of Ruapehu but was a bit covered in cloud so looked the other way and the light on Ngauruhoe was just awesome.

If possible usually try for some moody or atmospheric image of the Pinnacles on Mount Ruapehu. They are such a stand-out rock feature but it gets difficult to achieve a image that ticks the boxes. This one with a clearing storm goes part way to that...The Top of the Bruce buildings are visible in the middle of this shot which is 3 vertical images stitched.

This shot was made two or three minutes after the shot posted before this. The light was changing quickly and I had to pack my camera away because it started to rain.

In the late afternoon incredible light greeting in the Ferret Valley inside Larches wood at the foot of majestic Mont Blanc.
Unforgettable.

Researched the term Alpenglow and the classification can get a little ambiguous so will just call it that anyways.
This was just as the full moon was dropping below the horizon on the left of Ruapehu which didn't add to the shot. Its pretty much a time before sunrise or after sunset effect and was really chuffed to get it.
La Dent Blanche est le magnifique sommet de plus de quatre mille mètres dominant le Val d'Hérens. Ici, elle a été photographiée tôt le matin depuis le village d'Evolène. C'était un bel été il y a presque dix ans.

Endless summer in the Pacific Northwest, typically by now we are in the deep, dark, rainy months. Today it's in the upper 70's and bluebird skies.
Another photographers magnet is the Church at Lake Tekapo but usually there is a bunch of tourists around everywhere as is the case here but with the magic of a update to my processing program its just really easy to deal with now using AI. From memory there was 6 people here in the frame. Got just the shot that was looking for...awesome.

Val Trupchun (Trupchun valley) is one of the best wildlife viewing areas in the Swiss National Park. The valley entrance is in S-chanf, Engadin, Grisons, Switzerland.

Great spot for a really different view. This is past the cell phone towers on the road or should i say sort of track to the Tokino Skifield. The Outback proved its worth on this one...so much so a 4wd driver was seemingly a bit annoyed a station wagon had got this far when he came past.
You can see Lake Taupo to the middle right in the haze with Tauhara visible behind Taupo town.

There is debate or some such about having a landscape image sharp from the front to the back. But as Nick Page pointed out in one of his vids if you want to create a 2D effect of the background receding into the distance that can't happen. It must seem to be far away which on a image that is sharp all the way by focus stacking etc still is one dimensional. So with a easily recognisable land mark such as Mount Ngauruhoe its not hard to throw the background into a hazy feel to generate the 2D effect and the viewer still recognising the mountain and it still being part of the visual story. Like just being there on a hazy day.
Anyway just throwing that out there...
As a side note i never post full resolution images on the web anywhere so the image is of a lower quality in general.

With the fresh snow fall came also some really strong winds on the peaks of Ruapehu creating these wispy lenticular type clouds but am hesitating to call them that just yet. The snow that was being just blown off was really dramatic at times...pity the ski field workers on Turoa trying to prepare the ski field in all that.
