Haven't been out shooting photos recently, so I'm grabbing some older stuff.
This one was shot in the Italian Alps at dusk, when I was sitting behind the capervan and relaxing from the day's hike in these fantastic Alps.

You can create some fun things with filters to extend the exposure time in photography .Trick is getting the right car colour and the timing as in this case. Thank goodness for digital is all i can say when it can take a little practice to get it right. Always fun to create something out of the ordinary from the ordinary....

I know you're supposed to take it easy on your first day. Still, I was too eager to see the legendary UNESCO World Heritage view from Seceda.
We started at the Col Raiser cable car station (2,100 m) and followed Trail #4 through open alpine meadows. The trail is classified as moderately complex, and the whole circular route measures approximately 9.7 km, with a total elevation gain of just under 500 m.
It took us about 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the Seceda ridgeline, which sits at around 2,500 meters. And yes — it is as spectacular as people say. From up there, the Dolomites unfold like a natural amphitheater: the Sella Group, Sassolungo, Catinaccio, and of course, the iconic Odle pinnacles, lined up like sharp teeth against the sky.
I took plenty of photos of this incredible view and eventually selected the three best images. Each of them features the iconic Odle peaks, but every photo captures the mountains from a different angle and perspective, highlighting the ever-changing character of the landscape.
We made a quick stop at the Seceda Hut, but we couldn't get the staff's attention. It was surprisingly busy — turns out there's another cable car that drops visitors right at the top. So, no, not everyone hiked the whole trail.
We continued to Sofie Hut (2,410 m), where we had a light lunch with a front-row view of the surrounding mountains. From there, the trail led us toward Mastlé Alm (approximately 2,300 m), a peaceful area featuring wildflower meadows and small glacial lakes.
The final stretch led us along well-marked paths, gently looping back down to Col Raiser and completing the circle. In total, the hike took approximately 4.5 hours, including breaks — plenty of time to take in the landscape and appreciate why this area is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Aiguille du Dru/Les Drus (3754m) and Auigille Verte (4122m) with some wispy clouds around their ankles.

Just love not getting to overly carried away with getting too serious about photography and embracing the silly side to break the ice especially as there was lots around that morning...brrrr.
This was a passing truck that i captured using my little stopper to slow things down a tad although it does pay to watch the exposure times as the rising sun keeps changing the exposure times.
Just love how there seems to be laser beams emanating from atop Ngauruhoe to some distant something...?
Lago di Lucendro with Stegenhorn (2822m) in the background. Passo del San Gottardo, Ticino, Switzerland.
Piz Bernina (4049m) with the famous Bianco ridge (Biancograt).
Piz Bernina is the highest peak in the Rhaetian Alps and the only 4000er in the Eastern Alps. View from Diavolezza.
The sun-lit peak of Mont Blanc vanishes behind a bank of cloud moving in from the West and casting its shadow on the mighty seracs on the mountain's north face.

Was going to let the cobwebs get to this one but when viewed as a thumbnail it sort of yelled at me so here we are. The layers between the bushes, road, light stream and terrain leading to Ngauruhoe must have said something to release it from the depths of spider land..haha.
Must admit had to dial back the red light stream a fair bit as was a bit strong and was taking way too much screaming attention from the mountain.
Standing above the cloud line in the Pyrenees, I witnessed one of nature's most humbling spectacles - ancient granite peaks emerging like islands from an endless sea of mist. In this moment, the mountains revealed their dual nature: both earthbound giants and ethereal spirits dancing with the clouds.
My intention was to capture the profound solitude and mystical quality of high-altitude landscapes, where the boundary between earth and sky dissolves into poetry. I chose black and white to strip away all distractions, focusing purely on form, light, and atmosphere. The monochrome treatment emphasizes the timeless dialogue between solid stone and ephemeral mist that has played out here for millennia.
This image represents what draws me to mountain photography - those rare moments when weather and light conspire to reveal landscapes in their most sublime state. Above the clouds, surrounded by silence broken only by wind and stone, you realize how small yet connected we are to these ancient sentinels. Sometimes the most powerful mountain images aren't about conquest or adventure, but about surrender to the overwhelming beauty of wild places.

The new snow after the storm passed was just awesome but what caught my eye was the high winds over Girdlestone Peak on the southern end of Ruapehu. The snow being just thrown off the tops in the winds created some great shots. This angle looks from the Southern end of the Desert Road which had just opened as i arrived. Awesome timing indeed...
This was taken from the gondola ride up to the Alpe di Siusi plateau, just before we started the Panorama Trail. Below us: the village of Ortisei, spread out across Val Gardena, framed by forest and meadow.
It’s one of those moments where the hike hasn’t started yet, but the views already have. A short, silent glide upward — full of fresh air, fresh legs, and that familiar mix of excitement and quiet focus before another trail unfolds.
With this image, I’m wrapping up my Dolomites series. A truly fantastic region. I only wish there had been more time — so many places still to photograph, and I can only imagine what it must look like in autumn or winter.
Plenty of reasons to return... though the world beyond still calls, too.
What a luxury problem. 😊
Bietschohorn (3934m), Jägihorn (3407m), Breitlauihorn (3655m) and Üssre Baltschiedergletscher, seen from Stand (2121m), in Bürchen/Törbel, Valais, Switzerland.
Although the Bietschhorn is not the highest of the mountains in the region, it is – at least in my eyes – one of the most beautiful ones. Can't wait to get back there in autumn and winter…

This is the half way point for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and the intersection for the track to Oturere Hut on the Tongariro Northern Circuit. The track to Oturere can be seen at the head of the lake before it heads over the ridge down into the gully. You can see the crossing track on the far left making its way up to the ridge before you get to Blue Lake which is out of shot.
This was part of a off track mission with my youngest when we wandered up Hardmans Ridge, joined the crossing track here where we had dinner and made our way back to the carpark over Red Crater behind us. Don't know which was worse...Hardmans or Red Crater for climbing. The crater was three steps forward, two sliding back...whew.
This was sitting on my hard drive for so long it was growing cobwebs...

A bit of spring snow does wonders to your garden space especially if its the Tongariro National Park. But then again these plants are used to the climate but that doesn't give anyone free license to stomp all over them. As landscape photogs we are supposed to champion the great outdoors...not trash it so i go to great pains to avoid doing any damage.
The next snow fall was approaching behind but had a moment of light on the foreground which provided a awesome contrasty scene. Love how the Hebes in the foreground look like little muffins covered in snow.

The Jungfrau is one of the highest summits in the Interlaken region of Switzerland. Together with Mönch and Eiger it forms one of the best sights in Swiss Alps. This huge wall of snow, ice and rock looms over the valley of Lauterbrunnen.
Overall, the mountains around Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald form one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Alps. From views of the Eiger north face, scenery of Bachalpsee lake, to Reichenbach Falls (waterfall which was were a confrontation between Shelrock Holmes and his foe pror. Moriarty took place): it's an amazing region and is a must see to anyone who likes mountains.

There must have been a moment in geological time when some colleague of Slartibartfast (the great maker of fjords) made the Alps and she/he decided to model some peaks after waves. Viewed from Gornergrat, Zermatt, the Zinalrothorn (4221m) certainly can give that impression.
The full moon setting over Dôme du Gôuter (4304m), Mont Blanc Massif, Chamonix.
Oh, and as in the last picture, you can find mountaineers in this one as well…
A view (4 pics. stitched), from the mountain refuge, of the Caire de Cougourde 2897 m alt. (left) and Gaisses peak 2885 m alt. (right). Caire de Cougourde means "the rock with a shape of squash" (or gourd !) in the local idiom. This peak is very well known because it offers many climbing routes (400 m height approx.) of medium to high difficulties. A nice place for climbers and touring skiers. National Park of Mercantour
