Located at 4,380 m in the Himalayan mountains, Gosainkunda is one of 108 alpine freshwater lakes. In Hindu lore, the lake's association with Shiva makes it a holy place, and thousands of pilgrims make the journey to its bank each year.

Alpine Accentors were quite common on Mt. Aragats. This one was hopping around right on the summit.

Back to Canada again this time.

We visited the Western part of Canada in August and September 2019 for a roadtrip through Alberta and British Columbia.

This has been one of our most special holiday trips ever.

Canada is an amazing country. We did love the many national park and regional parks we visited. Simply said nature in Canada is amazing.

We stayed a few days in Fernie. The weather was again amazing, perhaps only just a little bit to warm (28c or 83f)

Went to the Fernie Alpine Resort and followed multiple trails and could enjoy the breathtaking views during our hike

We were not alone some squirrels and again some groundhogs did an amazing job in posing for our cameras.

We also traveled with some of our analog gear. Decided to take one of our Canon Eos 1N and Canon Eos 3 cameras

Used the Eos 1N for color film (Fuji Superia X-tra 400) and the Eos 3 for B/W film.

Also decided to take only film that could be developed with the standard C41 process

So that meant the Canon Eos 3 was loaded with Ilford XP2 Super 400

Didn't want to have undeveloped film taken back to the Netherlands, so developing these films was done at a Ldphotolab in Vancouver on one of the last days before flying back to home.

"Inspired by Alpine’s rich heritage, the A110 places driving pleasure front and centre. The mid-engined, two-seater sports car takes Alpine’s core principles - agility, compact size and lightweight build - and deploys them with modern day expertise. In its element both on the racetrack and a winding mountain road, the A110 is still refined and effortless to use every day."

Big plant, gorwing up to 1 - 1.5m height. it is endemic to the Alps between 1000 m and 2000 m altitudes, but can be found in other mountain ranges in Central-Europe, and also on the Scandinavian peninsula and in Scotland.

Farmers love this plant, as they believe it increases the milk production of cows, hence the "milch" (milk) in the German name.

The plant is related to the common chicory.

Snow and ice-covered alpine spruce and fir trees backlit by an "ocean" of valley fog. It was a mystical display! Photo taken at sunrise on "Sunrise" ski trail, Mt Mansfield, Stowe, Vermont.

I realized I've flooded my photostream with this series ... this will be the last one from The Day of Fog (12-25-09).

A tachnid flies drink nectar from an alpine goldenrod flower (Solidago multiradiata) that was growing near Crazy Creek falls off the Beartooth Highway in Shoshone National Forest, Wyoming.

According to a guide from Barnyards and Backyards Magazine published by the University of Wyoming, Tachnids are identified by the many stiff bristles that stick out of their abdomens as visible in this photo. They also are parasitoids. They lay their eggs on other insects. When the larvae hatch they attack and consume the host insect. These flies also move pollen around as they extract nectar. According to personnel at the University of Wyoming Extension Service, flies are common on flowers in the Sunflower family. They probably like the short flower parts that allow them to access nectar easily.

Alpine landscape at the Italian side of the Austria-Italy border.

Alpine primrose, Primula angustifolia, is a native alpine plant. Like many other cushion plants in the windy land above the trees, moss campion grows only a few inches tall. The cushion plants grow slowly, and size is a poor predictor of age--we know that some grow to be many decades old. Photographed at 11,300 feet on Niwot Ridge in the Front Range of Colorado.

Another one of the Orobanchaceae family of semiparasitic, parasitic plants. The Tozzia genus has only this one species.

The Pyrenees, Alps and the Balkan Mountains are its home.

In its first year the plant is growing only under the surface, and behaves as a full parasite, in its second year it grows above the ground and is also able to photosynthesize.

Prefers chalky, moist grounds. Between 800 and 2.600 m above sea level.

Kaisertal, Austria.

This is right between two Slovenian mountain ranges.

I believe these downward slopes belong to the Karavanke alpine range (it's a bit lower and not so steep), while the rising slopes and the stony peaks further away are definitely Kamniške alpe.
