Alpine pine in the mountains

Alpine Lakes Loop (2.7 miles r/t):

This nice loop links two sub-alpine lakes, Teresa Lake and Stella Lake. Due to the altitude these are fairly close to the treeline, which has the nice effect of making the greenery near the lakes stand out against the bare alpine backdrop. Teresa Lake has good views of Wheeler Peak, while Stella Lake has a gorgeous flower lined, meandering stream feeding it. Both are great places to relax under a tree by the water, which is appreciated at 10,000 feet. This trail is easily combined with the Bristlecone trail, and shaves a good mile off of the combined distance.

An easy stroll of only a few miles along pretty paths the Alpine Pond Trail near to Brian Head. I say easy but my lings still thought they were back home at 74M ASL not up in the giddy hieights of 3200M ASL so it was all a bit harder than necessary. This little lake was pretty well frozen at this the shady end at the other end it was so much warmer in the sun and no sign of any ice

Alpine flowers in the Stubai valley in Tyrol, Austria.

There are color variations of this flowers from yellow/white to yellow/purple. The shape of the petals is interesting.

As usual I have no clue what they are called. Anyone?
