The alpine accentor (Prunella collaris)
Native to Eurasia and North Africa. Found in northern and northeastern part of India, in mid and upper reaches of Himalayas.
"Inspired by Alpine’s rich heritage, the A110 places driving pleasure front and centre. The mid-engined, two-seater sports car takes Alpine’s core principles - agility, compact size and lightweight build - and deploys them with modern day expertise. In its element both on the racetrack and a winding mountain road, the A110 is still refined and effortless to use every day."

Two species of chough /ˈtʃʌf/ constitute the genus Pyrrhocorax of the Corvidae (crow) family of birds. These are the red-billed chough (Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax), and the Alpine or yellow-billed chough (P. graculus). The white-winged chough of Australia, despite its name, is a member of the family Corcoracidae and only distantly related.
The choughs have black plumage and brightly coloured legs, feet, and bills, and are resident in the mountains of southern Eurasia and North Africa. They have long broad wings and perform spectacular aerobatics. Both species pair for life and display fidelity to their breeding sites, which are usually caves or crevices in a cliff face. They build a lined stick nest and lay three to five eggs. They feed, usually in flocks, on short grazed grassland, taking mainly invertebrate prey, supplemented by vegetable material or food from human habitation, especially in winter.

There are few things in life that can compare to the solitute and peace you feel on top of a mountain. Life barely clings on up there, each ounce of water, each pebble of sand, each little alcove for life to hide in and not get blown away is precious. We got to spend the nigth at over 2100m, with the star filled, clear sky as our backdrop. The entire night the wind was hitting the tent hard. Didn't sleep much, but I realized how hard it was for anything to grow up there. We spent one night, everything there needs to survive year after year. Not an easy task.
Okemo Mountain Resort is a ski resort in Ludlow, Vermont. Before becoming a popular ski resort destination, Ludlow was originally a mill town and was the home of a General Electric plant until 1977.
Okemo features an Alpine Slide which is pictured here. Common sense has prevailed over the last thirty years as today these cars are locked into the track unlike when I was younger and too much speed could cause the car to jump right off the track.
True alpine tundra communities are found at only the highest elevations on the Colorado Plateau, generally above 12,000 feet. Here only specially-adapted tundra species are able to grow in the harsh climate. Winds are frequently strong, snowfall can be heavy, and the growing season is short, in some areas only thirty days annually. To avoid strong winds and retain precious heat absorbed from the ground or attained through solar radiation, tundra species are commonly small, miniaturized, ground-hugging plants, such as prostrate woody shrubs (commonly willows), herbs, lichens and mosses.
Drove up to about 13,000 feet in a jeep on the roads cut by the gold miners in the 1800's. This was simply breathtaking to see from up top. The colors of the mountains are caused by oxidation of the metal ore that is contained within.
