At Schynige Platte, above Interlaken, in addition to wonderful views of Mts. Eiger, Mönch and Junfrau, there is an Alpine Botanical Garden that specializes in local plants and flowers that grow above the tree line. The diverse plants are shown in their natural plant communities, and over two-thirds of all the Alpine plants that grow in Switzerland can be observed and studied in this small area, thanks to informative labels. Colin and I hit an Alpine Slide during our tour. Another good part about the small van tours is you have time to stop and do fun things like this.
On the way up we were trying to figure out how to get off this at the top...Well once we got there the strap just disconnects from the slide...Cool system!! The ride down was much quicker, just wish it would have been longer.
Another shot from my glacier ski this past weekend. This lovely little mountain lake, Colchuck Lake sits at the bottom of the glacier I skied. My ski tracks let directly to the water's edge.
One of my favorite summer activities is to sit on the edge of a high mountain pond, surrounded by it's serene and picturesque wildflowers, colorful birds and very few people. It is wonderful to just savor nature. This bracelet, with its colorful stones and lovely dragonfly, remind me of these perfect days.
