Looking down Woodland Road towards the town of the same name, Wisconsin & Southern train L591 is passing through on the morning of October 26th, 2021.
At this very same moment, there is also a set of three Canadian National units already heading down from North Fond du Lac for a rendezvous at Slinger with this WSOR eastbound where the train (presumably either grain, feed corn or soybean loads) will be handed over to the CN to be forwarded on towards its final destination.

The Urban Fox
Wild foxes have learned to adapt to the urban environment in order to survive. By nature, foxes are nocturnal and hunt at night, whereas the urban fox has adapted its behavior to survive and can be seen during daylight hours.
Locally, a fox vixen has located her den in the foundational remains of a razed building complex along the boardwalk at the Jersey Shore. She has six Kits, which can be seen frolicking in the debris and along the dunes during the day. The fox family has become local celebrities and unfortunately people have begun feeding them. Never feed wild animals. Although you may feel as if you’re helping them survive, you are actually harming them. Feeding foxes can alter their natural behavior and they may lose its fear of humans.
“Wildlife that is fed by people become less experienced at forging for their natural food and may become dependent on handouts that are not a part of their natural diets. This is especially true in juvenile animals that have not yet developed their own foraging skills and have little ability to fend for themselves once handouts cease.” ~ Julie King, Senior Wildlife Biologist

The Red Fox, Vulpes vulpes, is the largest of the true foxes and the most abundant wild member of the Carnivora, being present across the entire Northern Hemisphere from the Arctic Circle to North Africa, North America and Eurasia. It is listed as least concern by the IUCN. Its range has increased alongside human expansion, having been introduced to Australia, where it is considered harmful to native mammals and bird populations. Due to its presence in Australia, it is included among the list of the "world's 100 worst invasive species".

Am 03. September 2021 bespannte die für TXL im Einsatz stehende 193 878 von MRCE den KLV-Zug DGS 43949 auf seiner Fahrt von Wanne-Eickel nach Wien Freudenau Hafen. Bei Langenisarhofen konnte ich die den Vectron mit seinem auffälligen Flammen-Design fotografieren, welches auf die hohe Leistungsbereitschaft der Mitarbeiter von TXLogistik hinweisen soll. Bei den Fotografen erfreut sich die Lok zumindest hoher Beliebtheit.
On 03 September 2021, the 193 878 of MRCE, which is in service for TXL, hauled the intermodal train DGS 43949 on its journey from Wanne-Eickel to Vienna Freudenau harbour. At Langenisarhofen I was able to photograph the Vectron with its eye-catching flame design, which is supposed to indicate the high motivation of the TXLogistik staff. The locomotive is very popular with photographers, to say the least.
Am 14. August 2021 beförderten die 111 057 und 216 von smart rail einen Kesselwagenzug von Rüsselsheim nach Ingolstadt. Erstere trug zum Aufnahmezeitpunkt erst seit kurzem die eigenwillige Interpretation der früheren Farbgebung der Deutschen Bundesbahn für den TEE-Verkehr. Bei Treuchtlingen erwartete ich den aus dem Maintal vorgemeldeten Zug, der dank gebuchter Expresstrasse auch relativ bald meinen Standpunkt passierte.
On 14 August 2021, smart rail's 111 057 and 216 were hauling a tank car train from Rüsselsheim to Ingolstadt. At the time the photo was taken, the first one had only recently started to wear the quirky interpretation of the former colour scheme of the Deutsche Bundesbahn for TEE traffic. At Treuchtlingen, I awaited the train pre-announced from the Main valley, which also passed my position relatively soon thanks to the booked express lane.

Bighorn Sheep
The Bighorn Sheep (Ovis canadensis) is a species of sheep native to North America. It is named for its large horns. A pair of horns might weigh up to 30 pounds; the sheep typically weigh up to 315 pounds. Recent genetic testing indicates three distinct subspecies of Ovis canadensis, one of which is endangered: Ovis canadensis sierrae. Sheep originally crossed to North America over the Bering Land Bridge from Siberia; the population in North America peaked in the millions, and the Bighorn Sheep entered the mythology of Native Americans. By 1900, the population had crashed to several thousand, due to diseases introduced through European livestock and overhunting.

This lavish historical house, Italianate in style and dating back to the mid-1700's, has been empty for decades. It was bought in 1975 by our township with the plan to use it for cultural events, but the money was never found to restore it. As the woods covers up the first floor and soon the second and third, its future seems bleak.

The Kiama Blowhole, the largest in the world, is a blowhole in the town of Kiama, New South Wales, Australia. The name ‘Kiama’ has long been translated as “where the sea makes a noise”. It is one of the town's major tourist attraction. Under certain sea conditions, the blowhole can spray 50 litres of water up to 25 metres in the air, in quantities that thoroughly drench any bystanders. There is a second, less famous blowhole in Kiama, commonly referred to as the Little Blowhole by locals. It is much smaller than the other (called the Big Blowhole), but due to its narrow shape, it is more reliable than the Big Blowhole, and in the right conditions can be equally spectacular. The blowhole attracts 900,000 tourists a year. Kiama Blowhole is just a few metres beyond the coastline. The little blowhole is located at the Little Blowhole Reserve, Tingira Crescent, Kiama, 2km south of the main blowhole. The blowhole was formed from basalt lava flows approximately 260 million years ago and was first discovered by local Aboriginals who named it 'Khanterinte'. The blowhole was first written about by George Bass on 6 December 1797. Bass had captained a crew of six and set out on an open whaleboat to explore the south coast of Australia. He noticed the blowhole after anchoring his boat in a sheltered bay. Water shoots out of the blowhole because of pressure that forms in an underground chamber. As water fills the chamber at the end of the tunnel, pressure builds. When waves subside, the pressure inside the chamber pushes water up through the blow hole. Ra_1

2020 ist Geschichte. Was gewesen ist - das ist gewesen. Es lässt sich nicht hinwegleugnen, nicht hinwegdiskutieren - nein - da hilft auch kein lamentieren.
Was gewesen ist - das ist gewesen.
Machen wir also ein Häckchen dran. Ein Häckchen hinter 2020. Lassen wir es ruhen - ohne jedoch die Erinnerungen an all das Gewesene zu begraben.
Am Ende des Jahres, quasi am Ende des Tunnels, da wird es aber nun doch auch wieder ein wenig hell. So wie das zarte Licht der Zuversicht und der Hoffnung, welches sich am Ende des Jahres in der Natur bereits erahnen lässt.
Ich hab es gestern Nachmittag für Euch eingefangen, sende es an dieser Stelle hinaus in die Welt, und sende Euch mit diesem zarten Licht meine allerbesten Wünsche für das Neue Jahr.
Bleibt zuversichtlich - und vor allem - achtet auf Euch - und bleibt gesund...
