Sinds het wegvallen van de bekende Leeuwarden shuttle van HUSA in 2011 ziet Friesland tegenwoordig nog maar zeer weinig goederentreinen. De treinen die Friesland nog aan doen zijn meestal omgeleide treinen die vanuit Groningen niet via de normale route naar Zwolle kunnen rijden. Terwijl de terminal van zijn rustige nadagen geniet kwam daar in April 2021 opeens verandering in. Toen reed Strukton in samenwerking met de SHD een trein beladen met geluidsschermen afkomstig van de HSL naar de oude containerterminal waar deze gelost werd.
Op 25 Augustus 2021 keerden wederom de Strukton 1824 samen met de 2205 van de SHD terug naar de Friese hoofdstad met een trein beladen met geluidsschermen. Voor het rangeerwerk in Leeuwarden werd gebruik gemaakt van de 2205 die de trein zou plaatsen op de terminal.
Op de foto heeft de loc zojuist het eerste deel van de sleep gestald op spoor 75 van de terminal, terwijl deze nu bezig is om het 2e deel op spoor 79 te plaatsen.

I've known Dennis for a while now and I always stop for a chat when I see him. A few months ago Dennis lost his partner to Cancer and today would have been her 70th Birthday. To celebrate Dennis was off to what was their favourite pub for a couple of pints. The loss of his long term girlfriend really knocked him back at the time, so its good to see him back to his normal, cheerful self.

Na een melding gezien te hebben dat Lineas met hun dolime optocht onderweg naar Sittard was werd er even snel naar Susteren gereden. Hier op de foto stek trof ik nog een stadsgenoot aan die ook op de trein stond te wachten. Erg langs hoefde we niet te wachten toen de aparte combi in de verte vrij snel zichtbaar werd. De tractie werd gevoerd door de van IRP gehuurde 2104 ( G2000). In opzending was mee de van TCS gehuurde Nez-Casse 101001 ( ex NS 1781) en de Lineas Traxx 2841 met het E-Drivers opschrift. Deze laatste reed vanaf Sittard de trein verder naar België. Het complete kleurrijke geheel werd door mij hier omstreeks 11:54 aan de Gasthuisweideweg te Susteren vastgelegd.

"Angular geometric shapes like the hexagon seem to dominate the building of the event centre. Floors lie irregularly on top of each other and are supported by pillars. Projections and recesses alternate and create galleries. Concrete panels design the façade and their flattened edges make them almost round. Horizontal bands of windows design the individual floors and give the building a more tranquil appearance.

"Silk City Gallery
After almost five decades, the Seidenweberhaus has come to the end of the road: the days of the striking concrete block on Theaterplatz are numbered, the demolition is a done deal. But before heavy machinery rolls in, around 30 international street artists use the building as an impetus and inspiration for their work. From Tuesday 20th to Sunday 25th July [2021], they decorate it from all sides as "Silk City Gallery" with murals, graffiti and 3D art.
[...] The farewell to a building is celebrated that has accompanied the city society for a long time. The place lends itself to an artistic exploration, precisely because it so clearly calls for new impulses.
The artists come from Krefeld and the region as well as from countries such as Spain, Italy, Canada, Mexico and the Ukraine."

Nachdem ein sehr erfolgreicher Vormittag in Jeserig beendet wurde, ging es anders als geplant an die Berliner Ringbahn, da sich von Westen ein dichter Schlonz näherte. So konnte unter anderem das neuste Berliner S-Bahnmodell am bekannten Formsignalmotiv in Neukölln aufgenommen werden.

DE: Eine schneebedeckte Landschaft ist entlang des Rheins im Südwesten Deutschlands fast schon eine echte Rarität. Anfang Januar 2021 reichten jedoch einige Höhenmeter Unterschied im Odenwald aus, um genau das vorzufinden. Dazu noch Sonne, strahlend blauer Himmel und eine verträumte Nebenbahn in wundervoller Landschaft. 622 026/526 rollt hier am 10. Januar 2021 zwischen Rimbach und Zotzenbach auf der Weschnitztalbahn in Richtung Weinheim.
EN: A snow-covered landscape is a true rarity along the Rhine in southwestern Germany. However, at the beginning of January 2021, a few meters in altitude were enough to find just that in the Odenwald. The one photo I did this year that took the most planning.
I set this Christmas tree up in this barn in January and decorated it. And then...I waited... and hoped... for snow. It was February when we had a huge snow storm. I packed my camera gear into a backpack and put my snowshoes on and I hiked a good mile back to this barn to get this shot. I'm so glad I did. This year, the barn door is hanging off the barn, as this old farm continues to fall into deeper levels of disrepair. I think this will always be a favorite photo of mine because of what it took to capture it. I wish to all of you, my Flickr friends, that have supported and encouraged me and kept me laughing through all of 2021 (yet another miserable year!) the Merriest of Christmases and the Happiest and healthiest of New Years. Here's hoping that 2022 will be better!

Une vision inespérée...
Ce matin-là du début du mois de juin j'avais été rejoindre mon ami Jocelyn Bernier qui m'avais avisé de la présence du nouveau rouquin (je ne suis toujours pas convaincu qu'il s'agisse ou non de notre Bobby) au no 4, celui qui a décidé de s'imposer à la frontière des territoires de Odi et d'Amandine depuis le début du printemps. Nous avons tenté par la suite de retrouver Edgar qui avait été observé dans les jours précédents bien perché dans un arbre au feuillage dense par l'ami Michel Paquin. Dès que j'ai montré l'arbre en question à Jocelyn, il l'a repéré perché complètement en haut. Le bel Edgar nous regardait droit dans les yeux. Pendant que je prenais des images de la scène, j'aurai soudainement vu arrivé, à travers ma lentille, un écureuil sauter sur la branche où se retrouvait notre bel hibou. Comme de raison le farouche Edgar aura tôt fait de déguerpir en s'engouffrant dans le boisé adjacent. Nous l'aurons rapidement localisé admirablement perché comme nous le montre la présente image. Vision inespérée du peureux le plus notable des Petits-ducs d'Angrignon. Cette vision aura durée environ 7 minutes avant de le voir regagner la cavité où il s'abritait régulièrement lors des dernières semaines de la nichée alors en cours.
En ce qui concerne cette nichée 2021 de Amandine & Edgar, selon nos observations il semble bien qu'elle a avortée. En effet, au moment où nous nous attendions à la deuxième semaine du mois de juin d'être en mesure, à la tombée du jour, d'observer des petits apparaître aux abords de la cavité, attendant impatiemment la valse des becquées parentales, j'aurai retrouvé Amandine installée tout au fond du no 14 située à plus de cent pieds du nid. Une présence tout à fait inhabituelle dans son cas lors de la période où ses petits seraient encore au nid. Depuis, je l'ai retrouvé à cet endroit à chacune de mes visites dont la plus récente la semaine dernière, cette cavité où normalement nous la retrouvons seulement qu'en septembre pendant ou à la suite de sa période de mue annuelle après avoir accompagné, tout l'été, ses petits, bien cachés tout en haut des arbres dans leur abondant feuillage.
