The Indian stone-curlew or Indian thick-knee is a species of bird in the family Burhinidae. It was formerly included as a subspecies of the Eurasian stone-curlew. This species is found in the plains of South and South-eastern Asia.

Interesting facts
There are only four 19th century barques left in the world capable of sailing. James Craig is the only one in the Southern Hemisphere and the only one which regularly carries the general public to sea.
James Craig hoisted all of its 21 sails for the first time in nearly 80 years in 2001 and sailed through Sydney Heads. The story of its rebirth, the result of an award-winning 30-year restoration, is even more extraordinary than its earlier life.
In 2003, it was awarded the World Ship Trusts Maritime Heritage Award for authentic restoration. In this honour it joins a select band of restored ships throughout the world, including the Vasa (Sweden 1627), USS Constitution (USA 1797) and Cutty Sark (UK 1869).
James Craig is owned by the Sydney Heritage Fleet, a community-based, non-profit organisation dedicated to the preservation of Australia's maritime heritage.

Die Ziesel (Spermophilus, Syn.: Citellus) sind eine Gattung der Erdhörnchen, die in Eurasien in 15 Arten verbreitet ist. Dabei umfasste die Gattung lange Zeit deutlich mehr Arten, die auch in Nordamerika vorkommen; diese wurden jedoch nach einer Revision auf der Basis morphologischer und molekularbiologischer Daten in insgesamt acht Gattungen aufgeteilt.

The European ground squirrel (Spermophilus citellus), also known as the European souslik, is a species from the squirrel family, Sciuridae.[2] It is among the few European species in the genus Spermophilus. Like all squirrels, it is a member of the rodent order. It is to be found in eastern Europe from southern Ukraine, to Asia Minor, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and north as far as Poland but the range is divided in two parts by the Carpathian Mountains.

Yesterday evening at the Golden Gate. The fog had just started to ease up.
The finger of fog running along the headlands above is floating on top of what is termed a marine layer. The air directly above the water is cooled by the water and becomes denser than the warm air above it and so becomes trapped, and the fog then sits on this denser layer of air. As the air above cools (setting sun), the dense air escapes and the fog dissipates. This is what is happening in the picture, about 10 minutes before the entire bridge was shrouded in fog, but as the air cooled, it was rapidly disappearing with just this finger remaining.
Taken on a drive in the country have a nice weekend.

… the King (right) engages in a short bit of friendly sparring with El Barbudo (left). They’re going through the motions, but in a fairly restrained way.
El Barbudo is a bit of an enigma. He is older and heavier than the King, usually stays on his own at the fringe of the King’s herd, occasionally helps the King repulse the attempts of younger males to approach the does, and sometimes seems to enjoy provoking the King into mock bouts. I believe they’re mock because the real thing is a lot more intense and violent.
