Inside a bricked room inside the John Brown Museum is the absolutely gorgeous carriage owned and used by John Brown. It get's its name because it is said that it is the exact carriage carried George Washington about Providence during his visit in 1790.

John Quincy Adams wrote in his diary that this house was “the most magnificent and elegant private mansions that I have ever seen on this continent.”
John Brown’s carriage that is on display at the museum became known as the “Washington’s Chariot” because President George Washington is said to have ridden in it while visiting Rhode Island.
Rhode Island banker Marsden Perry purchased this property in 1901 and made many improvements to the house and grounds, including a landscape designed by the Olmsted Brothers."

Dieser Aufstieg hat sich wahrlich gelohnt: als ich früh zeitig den steilen Kegel des Malý vrch (der kleine Bruder der beiden Charwatzer Bergeln) bestieg, versteckte sich die gerade aufgegangene Sonne noch hinter einem Wolkenband. Nach einigem Warten auf dem Gipfel brach die Sonne dann doch hervor und verzauberte die Landschaft der Egerniederung rings um die markante Hasenburg (Hazmburk) in einen seiden leuchtenden Morgentraum

The Abbey of Saint-Benoît-du-Lac , founded in 1912 , is a Benedictine abbey of the Solesmes congregation . The estimated value in 2021 is $46.8 million and the area is 2.2 million square meters.
The abbey is located in the municipality of Saint-Benoît-du-Lac in Quebec (Canada), on the western shore of Lake Memphremagog near the village of Austin.
Built on a hill, the religious building dominates the lake like a castle with its turrets and stone walls.
The monks of the abbey make the famous Saint-Benoît cheese and cider from apples picked in their orchards. These products as well as books, musical recordings and religious articles are offered for sale in a shop.
From 1912 , Dom Joseph Pothier (restorer of Gregorian Chant), abbot of the French community of Saint-Wandrille de Fontenelle , then exiled in Belgium following the laws against confessional congregations in France, decided to establish a community in Canada. He then sent Father Dom Paul Vannier on a mission in the country for this purpose. With the approval of the Bishop of Sherbrooke, Mgr LaRocque, he acquired a farm on the shores of Lake Memphremagog.
A few applicants presented themselves in what was then only a simple cella, and five French monks were sent as reinforcements shortly before the outbreak of the First World War. In 1914, Dom Vannier died accidentally by drowning in Lake Memphremagog while traveling to Magog in a motor boat.
In 1919, the community, which then had only five monks (four French and one French-Canadian), made its situation critical and the mother abbey decided to put an end to the experiment. However, in order to request that the foundation be maintained, Saint-Benoît-du-Lac sent two religious to Europe. The latter finally convince their superiors to maintain the Canadian community. Especially since the community of Saint-Wandrille, which was able to leave Belgium and return to France, never came to settle in Canada.
It was under the priorate of Dom Léonce Crenier, from 1931 to 1944, that Saint-Benoît-du-Lac was elevated to the rank of conventual (i.e. autonomous) priory in 1935. Dom Crenier also took the decision to build the current abbey and will call on Dom Bellot to draw up the plans. Buildings are blessed on July 11, 1941.
In 1944, Dom Georges Mercure became the first Canadian superior of the priory.
On September 23, 1952, the monastery was erected into an abbey which became independent within the Congregation of Solesmes. The Very Reverend Father Dom Odule Sylvain became the first abbot. It was during his abbacy which lasted more than 30 years that the hostelry, the bell tower and the crypt of the abbey church were built, with the financial help of many lay people. The plans for these buildings were made by Dom Claude-Marie Côté, monk architect and disciple of Dom Bellot.
On June 13, 1983, the Very Reverend Father Dom Jacques Garneau was elected second abbot of Saint-Benoît-du-Lac. It was under his abbacy that the construction of the abbey church began in 1990, according to the plans of the Quebec architect of Romanian origin Dan Hanganu.
On May 20, 2006, the Very Reverend Father Dom André Laberge was elected third abbot of Saint-Benoît-du-Lac, and received the abbey blessing on August 6 of the same year.
It has about fifty monks who live according to the rule of Saint Benedict.

Le vendredi 19 février 2021 belle journée où les nuages commencent à apparaître, l'IC 4506 reliant Lyon Perrache à Nantes est vu passant à pleine vitesse les alentours de la commune de St Romain la Motte après avoir marqué un arret quelques minutes auparavant en gare de Roanne.
Ce jour la ce sont les B85053/54L et B85051/52L qui assurent cette relation avec un beau salut de la part du mécano.
El día 14 de noviembre de 2021 se celebró en Torrent la XV Concentración de Coches Clásicos del Club Hortaclassics.
A la Concentración acudieron muchos vehículos. Entre ellos tuvimos ocasión de fotografiar esta furgoneta GMC VANdura 25 del año 1973.
