For 121 Pictures in 2021 #33 "Favourite things", this is actually my favorite foods (but burritos are things...). This is a breakfast burrito filled with scrambled eggs, smoked sockeye salmon, green New Mexican chiles, and fresh dill. The salmon is wild caught and home smoked. The sausage is also a favorite and comes in bulk from a local butcher, with my addition of some ground red Thai chile.

NOT HIDING
Ironically, John Lennon was shot to death.
Ironic because at the end of his life, Lennon’s basic message was about love. In the simplest of terms he viewed love (in all its forms) as a counter-weight to many of the problems we encounter.
He once said: ‘We live in a world where we have to hide to make love, while violence is practised in broad daylight.’
The emotional bonds we share with certain people form the most precious reasons for living and it’s fitting we celebrate them both in life itself and in the things we create.
It’s fitting we ground ourselves in love by voicing it, ‘not’ hiding it.

Perce is a small tourist town in Quebec. At the other end of that huge rock island is an arch. The town is named after that arch(perce in French means pierced). This sunrise was taken from my campsite with a Pentax SMC 28/3.5. The colours were only slightly enhanced.

Iceland has a lot of waterfalls and many estonishing landscapes. It's a Walhalla for landscape photographers for sure. Skogafoss is definetely not the largest but for some reason it was one of the few I liked the most. And; next to the ringroad so easily accesible.

What I like here is the color, and the chaos of the petals of this tulip. I know, it hardly looks like a tulip, but I'm told by the family horticulturist that it most certainly is a tulip. Indeed, it is the same tulip I posted a few days ago with water droplets all over it; clearly there was just a bit of aging between the two shots.
The result of a multi-image focus stack, this image should reward pretty close examination. Maximum viewing size on your computer can be found by opening the image in a separate window, making that window maximum size, typing the letter "L" on the keyboard, and then clicking the cursor as long as a '+' appears in it, typically twice.
BTW, I've taken to putting a white rim around these images on black because, on my iPhone flickr app, it is otherwise difficult to discern the image's edges. I made it tiny because, while large mats look lovely on my desktop monitor, they make it hard for my tired old eyes to view an image on my iPhone's small screen.

This year's vacation was just like the one I had the last year - I visited Istria, passed through Rijeka and finally went to island Pag. This time we spent a few days in Labin, this beautiful viewpoint in Plomin was just a short drive away. Next time, I'll need a proper telephoto lens!
Here, a view from hotel Flanona's viewpoint, near Plomin, Croatia.
Taken with Canon EOS 5D Mark II digital full-frame camera, with Canon EF 50mm F1.4 USM autofocus lens.

Circus Under the Cupola. An Exhibition by Ieva Epnere
From 4 June to 1 August 2021, the Cupola Hall of the main building of the Latvian National Museum of Art in Riga (Jaņa Rozentāla laukums 1) will host Ieva Epnere’s exhibition “Circus Under the Cupola”.
Her exhibition, Circus Under the Cupola, is based on photographs of the Riga Circus made over the period of 2004–2008. The legendary Riga Circus was closed in 2016, Ieva Epnere’s series of photographs suddenly acquired a conclusion
In 2019/2020, the artist had the opportunity to live and work in Berlin. Her book Rīgas cirks (Riga Circus) was developed un published during Ieva Epnere’s fellowship with the Artists-in-Berlin Programme of the DAAD (Berliner Künstlerprogramm des DAAD*).
In her exhibition Circus Under the Cupola, Ieva Epnere imbues a documentary approach with metaphoric radiance. Personal experience led the artist to research cultural history and read literature about circus, uncovering the genre’s legacy and continuity. For centuries people have marvelled at tightrope walkers, jugglers, jokers, trapeze artists, at the intensity and endurance of their creative power, their total dedication to work. Comedians are part of the circus phenomenon.
In her new video piece, together with actress Guna Zariņa and artist Kirils Ēcis, Ieva Epnere reflects on creative personality’s space of freedom and existence. Historically, many artists have identified themselves with circus performers – people who live on the margins. The outward brilliance and magnificent spectacle may conceal melancholia and alienation. The video was produced at a time when all cultural venues were closed. The Cherry Orchard was sacrificed. We may recall, that French painter Henri Matisse, being bedridden, cut out bold collages of acrobats symbolising movement.

Prunus persica (Rosaceae) 076 21
The peach (Prunus persica) is a deciduous tree native to the region of Northwest China between the Tarim Basin and the north slopes of the Kunlun Mountains, where it was first domesticated and cultivated. It bears an edible juicy fruit called a peach or a nectarine.
Prunus persica grows up to 7 m tall and wide.
The flowers are produced in early spring before the leaves; they are solitary or paired, 2.5–3 cm diameter, pink, with five petals.

Sunrise on Reichenau Island at the Lake Constance.
A walk on the bed of the Harborne railway branch in Birmingham, July 2021. This is the bridge that carries Selwyn Road, with access to the bed from Summerfield Park. Of several bridges over the line, this is the only one that has any kind of impediment. Rotton Park Road station was only a few hundred yards beyond here, with Icknield Port Road station at the far side the park, perhaps half a mile away behind the camera. From here the path follows the railway for around two miles and across Park Hill Road viaduct, where it ends at the housing estate that now occupies the former station area.
The Harborne Railway opened to traffic on 10 August 1874, but was soon in financial trouble and into the hands of the Receiver, where it stayed for twenty years. Prospects improved later and at one time traffic justified up to 29 trains each way a day. It was not to last, and the spread of buses to supplement trams post World War 1 took away much of its patronage, with resulting closure to passengers on 26 November 1934. Freight continued for much longer and abandonment followed a railtour on 4 November 1963.
On this day, the tree shade of the cuttings gave a welcome respite as temperatures climbed above 30C.

Just two facets of the infinite world of nature -----------
Shot taken for Saturday Self Challenge - 31/07/2021 ---------
Nature !!
Well , this is just a couple of shots of nature , but who is to say which one is beauty and which one is beast - another fly would certainly have a biased opinion .
And Spike Milligan also had his views on " Beauty " - and I quote ..............
" Beauty is in the eye of the beholder --------
Get it out with Optrex !! " .
I think you will find this is a Small White butterfly perched on one of the wild flowers growing on the grass verge near the house on a section where what would have been grass is now left to nature at this time of year by the Council grass cutters .
Our beastie on the other hand I think is Lucilia sericata , a Greenbottle to Me & Thee , this is the first time I have ever take a shot of a fly and captured some of the honeycomb effect in it's eye - unfortunately some of the detail has been lost in the creation of the collage and the maximum the image can be enlarged on flickr .
We also get fair selection of birds that come to visit and the garden is a haven for all sorts of nature being left as a semi wild area rather than flowers and a lawn . However , I chose some of the little visitors for my little collage but as with nature there is so much to it and to many it has been a lifesaver over the madness of the last year and a half !!
All shots taken with the Canon 77D & 70-300 f4-5.6 IS II USM
and put together with Serif CraftArtist .
In the first comment box is a shot of our little garden which as you can see attracts visitors large as well as small !!
A song for each pic -
The first depicts how we perceive the Butterfly ( how many remember ?? )
And where there is one fly - there are bound to be more ----
