I'm trying to create a new habit to go to the botanical garden near my house every Wednesday morning for an hour between 7-8am before work. Here's a shot from today's visit.
The geology of the area in which the Green Bridge of Wales is located is composed of a very thick layer of Carboniferous Limestone, including a certain amount of chert.

Erosion has occurred over time as storm winds have battered the coast, pebbles have been dashed against the rocks, sand particles have worn away the surface, and chemical erosion has dissolved the limestone.
The weakest parts of the cliff are the first to be worn away, usually the folds and small faults that are present in the rocks.
This has resulted over many millennia in the creation of many unusual landforms.
In the case of the Green Bridge of Wales, erosion has taken place on both sides of a small headland, caves have been formed which extended further and further until they met, forming the arch that can be seen today.
The bridge is about 24 m (80 ft) high with a span of more than 20 m (66 ft). Its outer edge rests on a more durable rock pedestal and its upper surface is clad in vegetation.
The Green Bridge lost a considerable amount of rock to damage during Storm Ophelia in October 2017.
Taken about a month ago during our early June workshop. We felt the sunset opportunity would be really cool at this location we only share with clients and it did not disappoint!

Frankey Street Art is giving the city little often unremarkable surprises. Every week a photo with one of his recent works appears in the supplement to the newspaper Het Parool. A great opportunity to take a closer look at his work. Sometimes you have to search to find it and sometimes it is already gone.

Street Art Frankey
Street Art Frankey (pseudonym of Frank de Ruwe) is a Dutch artist who wants to positively influence the street scene with relatively small and often inconspicuous works of art.
He grew up in Nijmegen, father was an inventor at Philips Netherlands. He studied at Delft University of Technology (Industrial design). In daily life director of and working for design collective Natwerk. In Amsterdam, many of his works in the street art category can be found on buildings, streets and bridges, often in addition to existing building elements. He himself about his work;
"I want to push boundaries. Art has no boundaries, that's why I like it so much."
In 2019, a special page has been dedicated to his art in Het Parool for a number of years; first he took care of that section himself, later he had to leave that work to others because of busy work. A little later his work Eberhard van der Laan appeared above the entrance of Paradiso.
One of the works that inspired him is the Boomzagertje in the Leidsebosje, a work by an as yet unknown artist.

Een enkel SGM-tweetje bleef altijd leuk om even op de foto te zetten. In 2021 hadden alle SGM-stellen niet zo'n lange toekomst meer voor de boeg, dus toen er sneeuw viel was maakte dat een nog grotere uitnodiging deze stellen vast te leggen.
Op 9 februari was het 's avonds eindelijk gedaan met de sneeuwbuien, die door de snijdende wind erbij soms best agressief konden zijn. Er lagen hier en daar dan ook banken opgehoopte sneeuw. Het treinverkeer was op die negende van februari nog steeds ontregeld, sinds de sneeuw reed alleen Keolis nog regelmatig treinen. Mondjesmaat kwam het verkeer van NS ook weer op gang. Hier in het oosten betekende dat eigenlijk alleen maar dat de sprinters van en naar Apeldoorn weer heen en weer reden.
Hier zat op dat moment ook SGM-2 2138 in. Er staat reeds een foto van dit stel van overdag online, maar 's avonds op die dinsdag was ik ook nog even naar het station van Hengelo gefietst om vanaf de fietsstalling een plaatje te schieten. Met een toch nette kleine 4 minuten vertraging staat het treinstel langs het perron te Hengelo. De winterse neerslag heeft duidelijk zijn sporen achtergelaten op de neus van de 2138!

Déployés depuis juillet 2020 en RCA, ce contingent, composés d’éléments du Bataillon d’infanterie et de la compagne de transport lourd, a beaucoup contribué à la mise en œuvre du mandat de la MINUSCA à travers des missions de protection des populations civiles, la sécurisation de l’assistance humanitaire et le soutien logistiques des forces à travers le pays.
Bangui (CAR), 10 August 2021: 990 peacekeepers from the Egyptian contingent of MINUSCA were awarded the United Nations medal during a ceremony chaired by the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Lizbeth Cullity. Deployed since July 2020 in CAR, this contingent, composed of elements of the Infantry Battalion and the Heavy Transportation Company, has contributed significantly to the implementation of MINUSCA's mandate through protection of civilians operations, escorts to humanitarian assistance delivery as well as logistics operations in support of MINUSCA forces across throughout the country.

I had a day off today and we just got hammered by snow this morning. It was wonderful to enjoy a fire and watch snow fall and accumulate. Midafternoon the clouds began to part and towards the evening I was treated to this view of the peak covered in snow, lit by the sun and even a bit of blue sky! Would you believe me if I said "I just opened my front door and shot this"?

Dzisiaj ostatni dzień kalendarzowej zimy, dlatego warto podsumować jej najpiękniejsze dni. Moja okolica była najpiękniej przyozdobiona zimowym nastrojem w drugi dzień Świąt Bożego Narodzenia. Zainspirowany zimowym widokiem ruszyłem w trasę poszukując industrialnych panoram w zimowej odsłonie. Wybór padł tradycyjnie między innymi na Koksownię Częstochowa Nowa zaprezentowaną na zdjęciu. Zakład ująłem z najwyższego częstochowskiego wzniesienia czyli Góry Ossona o wysokości 316 m. n. p. m. Zeszłego roku narzekałem, że nie wszystkie kominki ładnie kondensowały, jednak tym razem postarały się aż za bardzo Musiałem poczekać zanim odkryją się spod imponującej kołderki obłoków z chłodni wentylatorowych 😛 Widok był szczególnie imponujący, ponieważ względem zeszłorocznej zimy włączono do eksploatacji nowy blok energetyczny oraz baterię koksowniczą nr 2. Ponadto drzewa były pięknie oszronione. Fotografia przedstawia od lewej: zbiornik gazu koksowniczego i znajdującą się za nim wieżę gaszenia koksu nr 2, nieco dalej tlenownię, następnie komin EC 1 o wysokości 150 metrów, zamkniętą pochodnię gazu koksowniczego, białe kolumny instalacji węglopochodnych i widoczną za nimi wieżę węglową nr 2 wraz z wieżą kątową nr 2, komin baterii koksowniczej nr 4, nowy blok energetyczny wraz z kominem, następnie widoczna jest nieco wieża kątowa nr 1 i wieża gaszenia koksu nr 1. Wiele obiektów zniknęło w obłokach kondensacyjnych. Bardzo wtedy zmarzłem ale było warto 😉
Okres zimy był dla mnie bardzo pracowity. Uwieczniłem Hutę Żelazostopów Re Alloys w Łaziskach Górnych. Wizyta niniejsza była moim marzeniem od wczesnych lat dziecięcych 😉 Nakręciłem także film prezentujący poglądowo proces produkcji żelazostopów. Materiał jest w trakcie edycji. Na początku marca natomiast uwieczniłem remont pieca obrotowego nr 5 w CEMEX Polska Cementownia Rudniki. Po raz pierwszy w życiu miałem okazję zapoznać się z tego typu pracami, które postaram się Wam także zaprezentować 😉 Ostatnie dni mijają mi za to na przygotowywaniu materiałów o jednej z krajowych Walcowni (fotoreportaż jak i film), która wkrótce będzie obchodziła jubileusz 70-ciu lat swojej pracy. Jesteście ciekawi, która to Walcownia? Obserwujcie stronkę w kwietniu. Niestety dokonałem nieco zmian zawodowych, które ograniczają moją dostępność, mimo wszystko staram się działać ile się da 💪 Dziękuję Partnerom za współpracę pełną zrozumienia dla tego faktu.
“Hangin’ Out Until Cades Cove Re-opens”

Part II - If you were wondering what the bears are doing while Cades Cove is closed…they are “Hangin’ Out.”
The wait is almost over for the Cades Cove Loop road to re-open due to repaving. Tomorrow, September 28, the Cove should re-open. Fingers crossed!
The bears “told” me they have been hanging out and having a lot of fun. They sure missed us though:)
Backstory: In May, I found a bear while walking in the woods with friends. We found out the bear was a female when she crossed the road and called down her cubs from a tree. It was precious. This photo shows one of the cubs coming down.
I named the mama bear Pepe. Pepe nursed the cubs, then they were on the move—fueled and ready to go. They crossed the road safely because a car stopped for them.
They caused quite a commotion. The cubs played follow the leader on a downed tree, had a sumo wrestling match, peered at the tourist while standing on their hind legs, climbed up and down trees, and even picked out a Christmas tree for the family.
Pepe then “treed” the cubs a.k.a. told them which tree to climb and stay in. She then took a nap on a downed moss-covered tree. They finally crossed the road and disappeared.
It was an amazing day. I was happy that so many others were able to see the bears!

In the year 2015/2016 I called this the most successful installation of the 4th edition of the Amsterdam Light Festival. That year located on the Herengracht and Leidsegracht. This 10th edition on the Torontobrug and seen from the Weesperzijde in Amsterdam Oost. The first time Amsterdam Oost has an installation for this event.
Amsterdam Light Festival
Amsterdam Light Festival is an annual light art festival in Amsterdam. Artists, architects and (light) designers from all over the world bring their light artworks and installations alive during the festival every winter.
Edition #10 is from 2 December 2021 till 22 Jaunuary 2022. It’s the 10th anniversary of the festival. This special edition is a repeat of the most popular light artworks of the past 10 years. A few new artworks and some artworks have been placed at a different location than the original, so they can be experienced as new again.
Seven gigantic butterflies have landed on the surface of the canal. The butterflies not only rise and fall with the movement of the water caused by passing boats, but their wings glow blue against the dark night.
