Day 2 reject

These jeans are so old they are practically falling apart and still I refuse to throw them away.

I can’t really wear them anywhere except maybe around the house and fantasize about different times when my ass was smaller or when I could wear whatever I wanted all day long and I didn’t have to consider employers and customers…

In this photo I was on my way to “strike a pose” but I was too slow and I was caught unprepared….later when I saw this photo I thought those jeans make my ass look hot so I decided to upload it.

Ashley pointed out this hilarious flier while we were wandering the streets of Williamsburg during my visit to NYC.

Eagles use complex communication methods to express emotions, establish dominance, and maintain social bonds with other eagles. Their primary forms of communication are the use of high-pitched calls, screeches, and whistles. These sounds serve multiple purposes, from signaling danger to expressing emotions such as distress, aggression or contentment.

Beyond their vocal noises, eagles also use body language to convey emotions. They puff up their feathers to appear larger when feeling threatened. Lowering their head and partially spreading their wings can indicate submission, while a sharp, piercing stare may express dominance or curiosity.

During mating season, eagles showcase affectionate behavior through synchronized flight patterns, gentle pecking and the exchange of food between mates. This strengthens their bond and ensures a successful reproduction cycle.

Eagle parents also communicate with their young using a mix of cries and physical gestures. Soft chirps reassures eaglets, while sharp calls can encourage them to practice flying.

I caught this eagle crying out for his mate who was sitting in a tree about a half mile away. A small hill between the two obscured the other eagle so a plaintive plea to come repeatedly wafted over the air. A few minutes later the other eagle came soaring over the hill, found its mate and perched on a nearby branch.

I don't think I ever noticed or knew that 3106 was missing the Rio Grande lettering below the headlight on the nose. Pretty odd, I think there were a few others as well.

And I'm still standing here, and you're miles away

And I'm wonderin' why you left...

Image created for Neil Creek's Just A Second challenge, which required entry of a picture taken with exactly one second shutter speed.

I must admit, this is about the toughest challenge I've yet tried... it left me completely stumped for quite a while. This photo was taken this morning when it was nearly too light out for it to work, but due to some heavy cloud cover, I was able to sneak it in. I didn't even realize until I got this downloaded to my PC that I'd caught a second bus blurring past in the opposite direction!

snowing here this morning.

The base of Lichen Falls, in the Ozark Mountains of northern Arkansas. There is some good news/bad news regarding this waterfall. The good news is that it is ridiculously easy to reach the top of the falls. It's a short and level walk along the Ozark Highlands Trail, which runs through a delightful stretch of moss-covered woods. The bad news is that it is nearly impossible to safely reach the bottom of the falls if you want to get a better view or photo. It is a scramble down a steep and muddy hillside that is covered with poison ivy, sharp rocks and pointy exposed roots. We carefully tried to make our way down there, but I lost my footing and fell and then started sliding down the muddy hill. I slid right past an exposed root that stood out of the ground, narrowly missing my leg. If I had been sliding a few inches over it would have run right up between my legs. The collision with that root would most-assuredly not have been all that fun and pleasant.

The waterfall here is 28 feet tall, and tumbles over two ledges. It was hard to get both ledges together in a photo. The leaves on the trees blocked most of the view of the falls. And to get the best view would have meant trying to stand on the slick hillside, while water from the bluff was pouring over you

PRESENÇA

«É preciso que a saudade desenhe tuas linhas perfeitas,

teu perfil exato e que, apenas, levemente, o vento

das horas ponha um frêmito em teus cabelos...

É preciso que a tua ausência trescale

sutilmente, no ar, a trevo machucado,

as folhas de alecrim desde há muito guardadas

não se sabe por quem nalgum móvel antigo...

Mas é preciso, também, que seja como abrir uma janela

e respirar-te, azul e luminosa, no ar.

É preciso a saudade para eu sentir

como sinto - em mim - a presença misteriosa da vida...

Mas quando surges és tão outra e múltipla e imprevista

que nunca te pareces com o teu retrato...

E eu tenho de fechar meus olhos para ver-te.»

Mario Quintana

It's supposed to be spring and warm, but after few setbacks, it is freezing again. Unfortunately my tripod is pain to handle in cold weather, and setting it up for picture like this takes way too long. I miss you, Summer
