This photo was taken in Santa Maria de Gualter, which is a Romanesque monastery located near the village of La Baronia de Rialb. The church was used as a powder keg during the Spanish Civil War until it was destroyed by an explosion in 1938.

While the wind and snow blow around us, I returned in my mind to the past, where we expected snow and wind, and where most birds migrated.

This is a female redpoll. We had several irruptions of them, and took advantage of that in 2015 by opening a kitchen window partway. Joyful!
