This is the journey that started it all. I traveled to Venezuela to stay with my pregnant sister and her husband for five weeks back in 2012. The country was on the brink of a civil war, but the violence hadn’t broke yet.
Orazio and I went on a weekend trip to Canaima to see Angel Falls, the worlds tallest free falling waterfall.
To get to the waterfall, we had to ride in this boat. The guy sitting in the front steered the boat, and there was a gentleman sitting behind us in charge of the motor. It was so cool to journey through the Amazon Forest by boat.
Before this exploration, I hadn’t been much of an outdoor person. I would only take photos of scenes in town, places that were convenient. I realized that I wanted to see more, to go on endless adventures, and this was all comprehended after realizing that I just hiked, boated, ate, and slept in the Amazon Forest. The freakin’ Amazon Forest!! And you know what? I’ll go back in a heartbeat.
