Time Travelers
In all our wrongs
I want to write him,
in a time
where I can find him.
Before the tears
that tore us;
when our history was
before us.
- Lang Leav
A perfect, warm afternoon from the Berkeley hills...
I've seen sunrises, sunsets, flowing foggy sheets, and city lights sitting between the towers like a diamond in a ring... But for some reason, I've never watched the sunset behind the Golden Gate from the Berkeley hills.
As seen here, there was a unique flat fog bank sitting just outside the entrance of the bay. The high pressure system "smashed" the fog, and kept it from moving in over the bridge. With a clear winter sky, the low light of the afternoon sun lit this fog bank up and provided a awesome backdrop to contrast the bridge. The bridge and fog have given me so much... Always a special moment for me.
Thank you for stopping by.
Its a must MUST.
today, for the first time, my photography will be featured in an exhibition in a gallery. on a wall. hung as art. for all the world to see. (and buy.)
thank you, argus seventy-five, for your dirty viewing lens, your bakelite body, your lovely, lovely logo.
thank you, cory grace, for seeing this camera on the shelf and telling me to buy it, even though the dealer was an asshat. hands down, the best eight bucks i've ever spent.
thank you, florian and uncle dave and ma and my extended family of friends and rustas, for supporting me, and holding me when the darkness faded to black. we are family.
thank you, flickr. three years into this journey and you're still there, what with your comments and your faves and your views and your silly fabulousness. amazing how a conglomeration of copy and code can connect and change people's lives.
thank you, therapy, for saving my ass.
thank you, bob and rebecca, for letting me find a muse in your son, and a photographic champion in your friend denise, whose work i'm honored to be shown with tonight.
thank you, orange, for being the tiger tiger that burns so bright.
i could go on, but i need to go put the laundry in the dryer and give harvey his medicine and make the guest bed and keep on keeping on. so if you're in the area tonight, or even if you're not, feel free to stop by the gallery.
i'll end this sapfest with a quote from joe strummer, whose music keeps me going when my heart needs a metronome:
never forget you're alive.

This is the journey that started it all. I traveled to Venezuela to stay with my pregnant sister and her husband for five weeks back in 2012. The country was on the brink of a civil war, but the violence hadn’t broke yet.
Orazio and I went on a weekend trip to Canaima to see Angel Falls, the worlds tallest free falling waterfall.
To get to the waterfall, we had to ride in this boat. The guy sitting in the front steered the boat, and there was a gentleman sitting behind us in charge of the motor. It was so cool to journey through the Amazon Forest by boat.
Before this exploration, I hadn’t been much of an outdoor person. I would only take photos of scenes in town, places that were convenient. I realized that I wanted to see more, to go on endless adventures, and this was all comprehended after realizing that I just hiked, boated, ate, and slept in the Amazon Forest. The freakin’ Amazon Forest!! And you know what? I’ll go back in a heartbeat.

B&W to reflect my mood today. We had a hard and fast snow storm this morning......now its raining, so hopefully it'll all be gone tomorrow.
I visited my home town (almost a month ago already) and took a hike to one of my favorite places, where I saw my first waterfall and fell in love. While we were scouting out places to get views of the falls, I hiked up to an overlook and saw all these mountain laurels growing in the few spaces available between the rocks. Have you ever seen them in bloom? They are exquisite, I think.
I think this is the place that set the standard for my favorite natural surroundings.....rocks, water, ferns, laurel, moss......you know what I mean. It felt like home...in the woods. (See more below).
