Europe, Netherlands, Zuid Holland, Rotterdam, Kop van Zuid, Wilhelminapier, Las Palmas, New Orleans high rise.
The former and now redeveloped 'Las Palmas' warehouse ('veem', 1953, now home of the Nederlands Foto Museum, the LP II expo hall and a restaurant) and the 'New Orleans' high rise (2001, Alvaro Siza)) It's on the Wilhelminapier and a part of the Kop van Zuid urban redevelopment project, so number 195 of the Urban frontiers album.
Manual focusing with the Samyang 85 1,4, set at f/1,4, went easy here - a nice array of focus peaking lines in the EVF appeared to guide the process.

Europe, Zuid Holland, Dordrecht, Merwede, Merwedekade, Waterbus terminal Merwedam, Cyclists, Wheeely (cut from L & T)
Shot at the Waterbus / Aqualiner terminal on the Merwekade in Dordrecht. Behind the frolicking youngsters is the ‘Merwedam’ Waterbus ferry which just arrived from Papendrecht Veerhaven. The Merwedam was specifically designed and build for the Dordrecht Merwekade - Papendrecht Veerkade line by Alumarine France. It's biderectiomal. For environmental (and probably publicity) reasons the aluminium superstructure of the 'Merwedam' (capacvity: 200 passengers and 80 bicyclies) is for the most part unpaiinted and much recycled material is used. It is marketed by Waterbus as the most environmental friendly ferrries in Holland.
The Waterbus system connects Dordrecht with Rotterdam, Papendrecht, Hendrik-Ido ambacht, Alblasserdam, Ridderkerk and Krimpen aan de IJssel. The fast ‘Waterbus’ ferries form a vital public transit link in the congested region of Rotterdam. Apart from the 'Merwekade, the ferries used are all ‘Riverrunners’, alumimium catamarans and are designed and build by NQEA Australia and Damen Shipyards (under license).

The' Roommate’ hotel juxtaposed with the steel & glass facade of a building volume of De Rotterdam 'vertical city' (2013-Koolhaas/OMA). The hotel is the AWG architecten / Teresa Sapey Studio redeveloped Pakhuismeesteren (the company that once bought up the leftovers of the bankrupt VOC) veem (harbour storage facility (1941). Shown here is the part of the hotel that was realized on the roof of the veem.
The soundtrack - Cinerama - See thru.
Shot with the oldest lens in my inventory (apart from the Pentacon lenses). The heavy and sturdy Tamron 28-300 (285D) . It was manufactured in 1999. And though it's heavily and not really carefully used, it's still going strong.
This is number 1038 of Minimalism / explicit Graphism and 236 of Urban Frontiers.

This boy here is not swinging a baseball bat. He just caught a pulse electrode while participating in the ‘catch the pulse electrode’ game (involving 8 overhead electrodes, a random one falling down at a random moment) at the stand of the Dutch fishery industry during the World Port Days 2019.
This is number 45 of the World Port Days and number 738 of the People in the frame album.

Eendragtspolder, a former agricultural polder transformed into an area where water storage, nature, recreation and sports are combined, is located between Rotterdam, Zevenhuizen and Rottemeren. A new major rowing course has been given a prominent place in a water storage area of 300 hectares, giving room for four million m3 of temporarily water storage.

The top deck of the Scheveningen Pier (arch: Huig A. Maaskant) is open to the public again after a period of renovation.
And the 60 m bungy jump tower is back in business too - fascinating stuff.

Europe, Netherlands, Zuid Holland, Rotterdam EMC, Central atrium Duna (Jaume Plensa), Piano player (slightly cut)
Shown here is the atrium of the new EMC (Erasmus Medical Centre) designed by EMG - project architect Willemineke Hammer. it's a vast and almost desorienting space which is partly dominated by the enormous 'Duna' sculpture (Jaume Plensa). It's fascinating how it changes its surroundings - like many of his enormous statues seem to do.

Europe, The Netherlands, Zuid Holland, Rotterdam Zuid, Rijnhavenbrug, People (uncut)
Shot on the Rijnhavenbrug (the FFF and Fenix lofts on the left) with a Lumix LX3, the cam that together with the Fuji F10, F30 and Canon S90 started the revolution of the serious compact cams some 15 years ago. The cams sported relatively large sensors and some of them were already BSI.
I found it recently on an online auction site. And couldn’t resist. It wasn't really used and came in its original box with manuals/software, an external optical viewfinder and 3 original batteries. And I got it for a ridiculously low price. It works flawlessly and what a fun experience it is to use a compact cam with a fast ‘Leica’ lens (f/2,0 – 2,8) ánd a full set of manual (buttons, levers and joystick) controls.
This is number number 774 of people in the frame and 285 of Rotterdam streets.

Europe, The Netherlands, Zuid Holland, Rotterdam, Hang, Construction zone, Workers
The city can be seen as a playground. This becomes once again clear when one think about RiF010. It will be an urban wave pool where people can sup and ride surfboards on the generated waves. A city canal near Hang (and Steiger) is being transformed for it.
RiF010 took a long while before it became viable. The local residents didn’t take a kind view on it. They feared it would become a problem for the area's livability. And there were all kinds of organizational and technical difficulties. It was one of the 2014 City initiatives, like the: Luchtsingel (& Schieblock) here.
This is number 734 of Rotterdam architecture and number 40 of Fish-eyed.
