One of the nicely weathered quays of the Waalhaven with a row of containers not used for storage.

Let's return to the Waalhaven again... and see that the sturdy metal container boxes aren't impervious to damage.

The Dalem gate in Gorinchem is the only remaining city gate of the original four that the fortress city counted after the upgrade of the ramparts which was completed in 1609. The other three were the pulpit the Arkel gate and the Water port, port. The remaining gates were demolished to make room for the growing traffic. The Dalem gate was 1597 and has a turret with a clock. There under the gate only a footpath in the direction of the river Merwede. Who follow the path, get a good view of the near the Dalem gate in the city walls built corn mill De Hoop.
Europe, Netherlands, Zuid Holland, Rotterdam Zuid, Kop van Zuid, Wilhelminaplein, Sculpture (slightly cut)
A structure on the Wilhelmineplein, facing the regional Courthouse which I identified as a sculpture, but I ain't sure it is. There are probably a myriad of metaphoric connections to be made between this structure and a courthouse. But I was not thinking about it when I shot this – the motive was purely graphic, as it often is ;-)

A shrouded apartment building nearing its completion in Katendrecht, on the part of the quarter where once the Hanno container terminal was located.
I was by the way very pleasantly surprised here by the resolving power of the old Tamron zoom lens, once ('90s) designed for analog dSLR's.
This is number 292 of Zwart/Wit and of course 278 of Urban frontiers.

Europe, The Netherlands, Zuid Holland, Rotterdam, Katendrecht, High ruise, Facade Katendrechts Hoofd (cut from B & T)
After the Rotterdam harbour activities were moved to the outer ring of the Rotterdam agglomeration in the 80s, the Katendrecht quarter is, at last, undergoing a massive redevelopment.
There are now terraced houses and apartment buildings and a school, on the southern edge (the Maashaven side) of Katendrecht, the place where once the Hanno freight terminal was.
Shown here is the facade of one of the highrises near the 2nd Katendrechts hoofd.
And tectonics is still meant in the architectural, not geological sense ;-)

Europe, The Netherlands, Zuid Holland, Den Haag, Koninklijke Bibliotheek (KB), Installation (uncut)
The Koninklijke Bibliotheek (KB, Royal Library) was designed by modernist OD205 (1982). The KB contains the largest book collection in the Netherlands. In addition to the library, the building houses reading cabinets, the National Office for Art History Documentation and the Literary Museum. The reading rooms have large voids with trusses. Characteristic are also the rounded corners, receding facade surfaces and a rigid measuring grid. Some 5,200 white aluminum plates cover the facade. OD 205 also designed the extension (2003-2006) above the adjacent tram viaduct. Source: KB.

Europe, Netherlands, Zuid Holland, Den Haag, Energiekwartier, Electriciteitsfabriek (uncut)
The Electriciteitsfabriek (EF) is a gritty cathedral-like industrial building and a part of The Hague municipal power station (designed in 1904-1928 by A.A. Schadee). It once housed the coal-fired power generation turbines, so it’s sometimes called the “turbine hal”. The old turbine hall was decommissioned and after an extended period, was put to use again, this time as a giant art workshop and exhibition space. Which was teminated in January 18, 2022.
The power station itself is still in operation; nowadays, it’s gas-turbine-based.
I visited the EF in 2017 when it was temporally changed into the 'Zwanikkenfabriek'.
If you wonder what the turbo-alternators that were removed from the building looked like, check one out from approx the same time installed in the ‘Estacão Eléctrica Central Tejo’ in Lisbon here.
This is number 6 of the Electriciteits(Zwanikken)Fabriek album.

Sunset in spring over the lake called Gaatkensplas.
Loaction: Barendrecht , Zuid-Holland , Nederland, Europa.
Always this lake has it's wonderful moments. Ofcourse one can dream away at it's beautiful sunrise or sunset, but the lake has more then that.
If I remember well, before the lake was made a long time ago (it is an artificial lake) I walked through the wasteland there. It was so interesting for me, dead tree shapes, mud, old stones. Nothing for the materialist dutch people here. But, later on I learned that my feeling was right. Now, underneath the water there is an archaeological site of the Klokbeker people preserved, who lived here even earlier then us, wow... thats old.
The Klokbeker name refers to the people who lived in the Netherlands between approximately 2500 and 1900 BC. They are named after a characteristic earthenware cup that, when turned upside down, looks a bit like a bell or clock.
