born to a military family, Harper started out life as any normal military brat, traveling around as her Intel parents were needed. but she had a wild streak that didn't seem to adjust well to their rigid lifestyle. early on she showed her talent with anything mechanical, able to take apart and put back together most any engine. but she also seemed to have a taste for destruction that boded ill for any moment she got bored.
arrested for the first time at 16 for accidentally blowing up a shuttle, she made her first contacts in the underworld. her parents disowned her shortly after that and she joined the underground to retaliate, calilng herself Zero. for 10 years she was semi freelance, picking up contracts and leaving destruction in her wake, looking out for herself and no one else.
that all came to a halt in the past year when she was finally captured for the bounty on her. she spent 8 months in lockdown before VASC came looking for her. she sold her soul to the devil for freedom, restricted freedom. she comes to Mars, working for the Corp instead of against it in return for years off her sentence
*note: her record has not been expunged but it is highly classified. only top level officers would be fully aware of who she is and her criminal past. for nearly everyone else she's just the newest engineer with demolitions experience.

'District Zero' tells the story of Maamun Al-Wadi, a Syrian refugee who begins a new life in Jordan’s Zaatari camp fixing mobile phones. He is one of nearly 60 million refugees and displaced person worldwide.
People from all over the camp come to his shop and through each customer they see the contents of their memory cards: their past lives in Syria (happiness, daily routine and family life) as well as the war, destruction, fear and flight.
The documentary has been presented at film festivals since September 2015.

The infamous crossing at Shibuya station, shot from a well known coffee shop with an excellent vanatge point. Even at a relatively quiet time of the day, the sheer mass of humanity was amazing to watch.

This is Zero. He was abandoned by his previous family and left to wander the neighborhood begging for food. Friends took him in, but they couldn't keep him, so he came to us. He doesn't like little boys, and he's allergic to bee stings. He likes to sleep under the blankets, gets anxious if someone leaves the house, and he enjoys sitting with a tennis ball under his front feet, gripped tightly in his paws.
Zero is what his first family thought of him, but he is no Zero.
So, Coke's new diet soda; Coke Zero has finally come out in my parts. Coke Zero is supposed to be a diet soda that tases close to Coca-Cola Classic. (didn't we hear that from reduced calorie Coca-Cola C2 last summer? That stuff tasted like a weak Tab.)
I had a 20 oz bottle on the way home from the grocery store and thought it was ok. It tasted a little weak near the end of the bottle though. Maybe the cans will taste better.

I thought I had staked out a decent photo spot to the right of the stage before the Zero Boys played. Wrong! The first song was Vicious Circle and the place just erupted. Bodies flying everywhere! It took me about 6 songs before I could get part of my perch back. There were 3 photographers on stage most of the night (you can see one of 'em in the corner of this shot, obviously) and there were lots of 'crossed streams' in the flash department. Totally amazing show...

I've spent enough time outside the US to be used to the floor numbering (and there was a time when I would have argued that it made more sense), but the salty C programmer in me is amused by the zero-indexed elevator. (Complete with negative numbers) It's the first time I've seen that. (Yes, it makes sense in a hotel with a multilingual clientele. But how many other places have you seen it?)

10.03.10 - Ein erneuter Großbrand im Kreis Ludwigsburg zerstörte eine ehemalige, zum Energiekomeptenzzentrum umgebaute Fabrikhalle kurz vor ihrer Neueinweihung.
Das Gebäude wurde so schwer beschädigt, dass es noch im ungelöschten Zustand abgerissen werden musste.
Auch in der Nacht nach dem Feuer brannte das ehemalige Gebäude noch. Feuerwehrler in den Trümmern versuchen diese kleinen Glutnester abzulöschen.
