This is the Owl that we bought in the Airshow - its wings weren't half flapping in the breeze today despite the sunshine and warmer weather than of late.
Caught this migratory male, reloading after a long flight and headed north. Always love Spring Migration...dread the long summer without these kinds of animals around. Piranga rubra

Without Color by no means implies without life. This photo, as with so many others, was meant to share the subject’s beauty on merits such as light, contrast, composition, depth and shadow. Ansel Adams’ work reveals unanticipated beauty in the absence of color. We can feel beauty and tease our senses in ways never really perceived of until his B&W works took the world by surprise. I do feel that certain works show better in B&W. Technology today helps most photographers, regardless of their skill level, to experiment with even their finest work. Thanks for viewing my work. Stay safe and be kind. Keep shooting and experimenting. Mask up and go have fun
The Cathedral Church of St Peter, St Paul and St Andrew
The West Front
The first abbey was built in Peterborough around 655AD, this was destroyed by a viking attack in 870AD. The Benedictines built a monastery on the site a hundred years later, the present building was begun in 1118 after the previous monastery was destroyed by fire two years earlier. The architecture is mainly Norman, along with Durham and Ely Cathedrals, it is one of the most important 12th-century buildings in England.
During the reformation of the monasteries the Benedictine monks where removed from Peterborough and the Abbey church was selected as the cathedral of the Anglican Diocese of Peterborough by Henry VIII in 1541.
Peterborough Cathedral is best known for its imposing Early English Gothic West Front which, with its three enormous arches, is without architectural precedent and with no direct successor. The appearance is slightly asymmetrical, as one of the two towers that rise from behind the façade was never completed.

Above the grand staircase at Drottningholm.
Drottningholm palace is the home of the king and queen of Sweden - no, they do not actually live in the big palace in the middle of Stockholm, but in this much cosier creation just outside of Stockholm (in the small village of Drottningholm - which was actually built to house servants for the palace).
The name literally means the Queen's islet, and is older than the building itself. It used to refer to a palace built in 1580 for the queen Katarina Jagellonica - but that place burned down in 1661, and the current house is the one that was built to replace it. It was on order from the queen Hedwig Eleonora - at the time queen dowager but also regent for her son Karl (Charles) XI that was underage when his father (Karl X) died. The palace was designed by one of Sweden's most well known architects: Nicodemus Tessin the Elder, and after his death the work was continued on by his (equally famous) son Nicodemus Tessin the Younger. The queen used it as a summer residence, and as a place for hunting. The palace continued to be in fashion throughout the 18th century, and got a partly rococo interior during the time of queen Lovisa Ulrika.
But the place fell out of fashion with the new Bernadotte dynasty in the early 19th century, being to closely connected with the earlier regime. The last new add-ons to the place was electricity and modern plumbing at the beginning of the 20th century - after that the focus has been on conservation and preservation.
The royal family has lived there since 1981 (though the kids have moved out by now).

Without means to escape the looming bloodbath, her demon orb came levitating with a flick of her finger. "I guess a fight is inevitable," she said in a somewhat calm voice as the orb started to glow bright red. "I hope you're ready to perish. Don't worry... I'll do it fast and painless... /hopefully/."

You cut out a piece of me, and now I bleed internally
Left here without you (no, no, no), without you (ooh, ooh)
And it hurts for me to think about what life could possibly be like
Without you (no, no, no), without you (no, no)
I can't believe that you wouldn't believe me
Fuck all of your reasons
I lost my shit, you know I didn't mean it
Now I see it, you run and repeat it
And I can't take it back, so in the past is where we'll leave it, uh
So there you go, oh
Can't make a wife out of a ho, oh
I'll never find the words to say I'm sorry
But I'm scared to be alone
You cut out a piece of me, and now I bleed internally
Left here without you (no, no, no), without you (ooh, ooh)
And it hurts for me to think about what life could possibly be like
Without you (no, no, no), without you (no, no)

Some people refer to these as your "everyday carry" or EDC items and they are as varied as the people who carry them.

Memorial to the Sinti and Roma of Europe murdered under National Socialism, Berlin, Germany.
www.stiftung-denkmal.de/en/memorials/memorial-to-the-sint...
In 1992 the Federal Government decided to erect a national monument in memory of the murder of the European Sinti and Roma persecuted as “gypsies”. The memorial of the artist Dani Karavan consists of a fountain with a stone that can be lowered and on which a fresh flower is placed every day. In addition, panels provide information on exclusion and mass murder of this minority during the National Socialist reign of terror. The memorial was ceremoniously opened to the public on 24 October 2012.
About 500.000 children, women and men were murdered systematically for rascist reasons.
The metal frame of the water bowl contains the poem »Auschwitz« by the Italian Roma musician, composer and university teacher Santino Spinelli. In German and English, it lines the lake. On the fringes of the chronology, it can also be read in two different dialects of the Romanes:
Sunken in face // extinguished eyes // cold lips // silence // a torn heart // without breath // without words // no tears.

Without any intention to offend anyone for the state of some houses, this series of ugly images is my desperate, probably futile attempt to save the architectural heritage that is already in such a state that her salvation is gone.

View of Forum Romanum with the temple of Saturn and the temple of Vespasian and Titus.
The cult of the god Saturn in Rome is quite old - the temple remains are in comparison quite new (as an ancient Roman temple goes). The first temple in this spot was built around 497 B.C. These columns on the other hand dates to a temple building from 360-380 A.D. when the previous building had been destroyed by a fire. Much of this temple is built with parts from older buildings - but the columns are made in the style of late Antiquity, in white Thasian marble.
The two columns (it's actually three, but the third one is hidden from view) with a bit frieze remaining is the temple of emperor Vespasian and his son Titus. It was an expression of the Roman imperial cult - the temple was started by Titus after the death of his father, and then after Titus' death it was continued by his brother Domitian and finished some time around 87 A.D.
“One heart is not connected to another through harmony alone. They are, instead, linked deeply through their wounds. Pain linked to pain, fragility to fragility. There is no silence without a cry of grief, no forgiveness without bloodshed, no acceptance without a passage through acute loss. That is what lies at the root of true harmony.”

(Re-post - from the archives)
Jutland, Jylland in Danish, is a peninsula to the west in the Danish geography. The coast to the west has helped much in forming the landscape - making the are along the area dominated by sand-dunes and heaths. The landscape is very flat and in some areas marshy too. The most northern part of Jutland, north of the Limfjord, was separated from the mainland by a flooding in 1825, making it technically an island - but it is still regarded as a part of Jutland.
Jutland, Jylland, was in the middle ages called "Iutland" - the land of the jyder. That word in turn probably comes from the word iuthær, meaning men. The Greek geographer called it Kimbrikē chersonēsos - the peninsula of the Cimbri - saying it was the home of the Teutons, Cimbri and Charudes.
The area is now one of the more sparsely populated regions of Denmark, and the Jutlandic dialect is famous for being hard to understand, even among Danes, especially in the western and northern parts of the peninsula.
