She didn’t ask anyone for advice.
She didn’t read a book on how to let go.
She didn’t search the scriptures.
She just let go.
She let go of all of the memories that held her back.
She let go of all of the anxiety that kept her from moving forward.
She let go of the planning and all of the calculations about how to do it just right.
She didn’t promise to let go.
She didn’t journal about it.
She didn’t write the projected date in her Day-Timer.
She made no public announcement and put no ad in the paper.
She didn’t check the weather report or read her daily horoscope.
She just let go.
She didn’t analyze whether she should let go.
She didn’t call her friends to discuss the matter.
She didn’t do a five-step Spiritual Mind Treatment.
She didn’t call the prayer line.
She didn’t utter one word.
She just let go.
No one was around when it happened.
There was no applause or congratulations.
No one thanked her or praised her.
No one noticed a thing.
Like a leaf falling from a tree, she just let go.
There was no effort.
There was no struggle.
It wasn’t good and it wasn’t bad.
It was what it was, and it is just that.
In the space of letting go, she let it all be.
A small smile came over her face.
A light breeze blew through her.
And the sun and the moon shone forevermore…

The Raven:
Ravens are among the smartest of all birds, gaining a reputation for solving ever more complicated problems invented by ever more creative scientists.
The Raven is an acrobatic flier, often doing rolls and somersaults in the air. Young birds are fond of playing games with sticks, repeatedly dropping them, then diving to catch them in midair.
People around the world sense a certain kind of personality in ravens. Edgar Allan Poe clearly found them a little creepy. The captive ravens at the Tower of London are beloved and perhaps a little feared: legend has it that if they ever leave the tower, the British Empire will crumble.
Common Ravens can mimic the calls of other bird species. When raised in captivity, they can even imitate human words; one Common Raven raised from birth was taught to mimic the word “nevermore.”
The oldest known wild Common Raven was at least 22 years, 7 months old. It was banded and found again in Nova Scotia.

Krzyżtopór is a castle located in the village of Ujazd, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It was originally built by a Polish nobleman and Voivode of Sandomierz, Krzysztof Ossoliński (1587–1645). The castle was partially destroyed during the Swedish invasion known as The Deluge in 1655, and then reduced to ruins during the war of the Bar Confederation by the Russians in 1770.
Even though extensive research has been carried out through the years, historians have been unable to fully explain all aspects of the complex. No documents have been preserved that have enabled the determination of either the date of commencement of the castle's construction or the date of its completion. The name of the architect is also unknown. Krzysztof Ossoliński was enamoured with magic. while the unique symmetry of the castle is evident even in its ruined state, the hidden meanings that may have been incorporated into virtually every part of the castle are not obvious.
The very name of the complex is a mysterious one. Krzysztof Ossoliński officially named it Krzysztofory, which is derived from Latin word Christophoros. Later, the name changed to Krzyżtopór, which is a compounding of two Polish words – krzyż ("cross", a symbol of the Catholic faith and Ossoliński's policies) and topór ("axe", the charge from the family's coat of arms). Both symbols can be seen on the gate of the castle. Also, above the gate there is the date 1631, but to what this date refers has not been firmly established.
The castle, built by Swiss engineer Wawrzyniec (Lawrence) Senes (probably born in Sent, Switzerland), is a typical example of the so-called palazzo in fortezza – an intermingling of both palace and fortress. The total size of the complex is 1.3 hectares; the length of the perimeter walls is 700 meters; the total area of all interior rooms is around 70 000 square meters. The basic design was based on the palace of Cardinal Alexander Farnese, located in the Italian village of Caprarola. Reportedly, the castle once had 365 windows (as many as days of the year), 52 rooms (as many as weeks of the year), 12 ballrooms (as many as months of the year) and also 4 towers (as many as 4 seasons of the year). For defensive purposes, the castle was erected upon a rocky hill, making it impossible for an enemy to organize an underground attack.
Krzyżtopór was furnished with amenities that were rarely seen in the 17th century, such as ventilation and heating system, and unique waterworks that provided all rooms with fresh water. Allegedly, the ceiling in one of dining rooms was made up of an aquarium containing exotic fish. Additionally, a system of dumbwaiters carried food from pantries to the upper floors.
The castle, without convenient proximity to main roads and rail connections, is visited by relatively few tourists. However, as walls, bastions and moat are relatively well-preserved, its magnitude is still very impressive. Though it is regarded as a permanent ruin, since around 90 percent of the walls have been preserved, reconstruction has been planned several times. Currently, efforts have been underway to roof the entire complex; however, this ambitious project lacks sufficient funding.

At the open-air museum of Groß Raden. This is the site for a Slavic settlement from the 9th and 10th centuries AD - and show two distinct building phases. The first settlement dates to the middle of the 9th century, but after just a few decades it was totally destroyed through fire. But the settlement was rebuilt again around 900.
The building to the left, with wattle and daub walls, is how the houses in the first phase looked. When the settlement was repopulated they built the kind of much sturdier blockhouses you can see to the right.
The place is thought to have been a gathering place, both for religious things and the exchange of goods, for the West Slavic tribe the Warnower (or Warnabi, Wrani et c. - the name comes in many forms).
The settlement (the name lost to us) was destroyed again around the year 1000 - but how is still a bit of a mystery. It has been speculated, though not proven, that this had something to do with the campaign by German king Otto III against Slavic tribes he made in 995.
After the abandonment this spot was left alone, not used to much more than animal grazing, until the archaeologists started to dig there in the 1973. The museum was opened in 1987. The main archaeologist behind this excavation, Ewald Schuldt, lived to see this, but died just a couple of weeks later.

I took so many images on the special weather event day, dense fog, and was running around like a kid in a candy store. I went to some backroads, a nearby lake, and just tried to get lost for some new compositions. Hope you enjoy.
Having endured the 1957 F1 season without winning a race, Ferrari introduced the 246 Dino in 1958 to try and stop the decline in their racing fortunes.
The 1958 regulations made the use of AvGas (aviation gasoline) instead of alcohol mandatory. Ferrari looked to the 2.4ltr v6 engine (the first v6 in F1) that was designed from scratch with AvGas as the fuel, instantly providing an advantage over its rivals that had to be modified from running alcohol. (reduction in engine size to 2.5ltrs for normally aspirated engines happened in 1954.)
Mike Hawthorn won the F1 drivers championship that year in the Dino, mainly due to consistency rather than outright pace, taking a number of second places during the season to ensure that he lifted the drivers trophy. Vanwall took the constructors championship having managed to win 6 of the seasons races

I took this shot with and without the flash. I loved it without the flash! It seemed very...well...elegant! :) I used a crosshatch stroke and nothing else so viewed in original size you can see it. Very subtle but again...elegant. Have a blessed day!

This is the church at abbaye Notre-Dame d'Ourscamp, which was founded in 1129 by Bernard of Clairvaux, at the site of an old oratory (which had been founded already back in 641). The place was for a long time the most important Cistercian monastery in northern France, with at times as many as 500 monks there.
The building history is of course many-layered, as is often cases with sites as this. The church was first built in the 12th century, but enlarged and Gothizied (is that a word? if not, it ought to be) in the 13th. There are of course several monastery buildings around, but the most striking ones are the two wings flanking the entrance (or what once was) to the church. One was built in 1677 and the other in 1748.
But of course the place did not survive the French Revolution - though its fate was somewhat unusual. In 1792 the place was disbanded and put on the market (the usual fate for such places was that someone bought it to quarry it for stone), but no one was interested - and it was turned into a hospital instead. In 1798 it was bought by a man who turned it into his castle (and most likely was the one that tore down the church to make it a suitable ruin for his gardens.......). The grandeur did not last. In 1823 it was turned into a cotton mill! And during the First World War it was occupied by German troops so the French bombed the place.
In 1941 a new religious order took over the place: Serviteurs de Jésus et de Marie (founded in 1930) and they are still there.
I don't want summer to end without posting a butterfly. Here is a Painted Lady, and as you can see it was well aware that I was taking its photograph. How lucky we are to be able to observe with our macro lens their tiny lives.
Butterflies have been the inspiration of so many fairy tales and fantastic stories, and there are so many more things that I can say about them, but for now I'm going to stop there :)
