Without You Erin

I was going to post a shot without a ladybird, just for something different... but then I couldn't resist this unusual little lady. She was on a pretty boring leaf so I relocated her to this cool mossy stone. I think she must have been training for the Olympics because she just wouldn't stop running!

A year and a month since my last visit. I was planning to revisit in May but with the spring being late this year, the 1st of June is probably still too early.

Over the two visits I only had around 10 minutes of light due to either cloud or getting there a little too late before the sun drops too far.

Just managed to grab the shots this time before losing the sun to cloud.

I would have loved more time to explore more compositions.

Thor's Cave is an imposing sight and you approach from Wetton. It's so big. The tree to the left and the church spire give a sense of scale.

The dragonfly is an insect of the order of Odonates. They have cousins who are very similar for them, called “young ladies” in French. The “young ladies” have their two pairs of wings of the same size and fly less quickly. There are approximately 4900 species of dragonflies and young ladies on the Earth, including 77 species in France.

The largest dragonfly lived during Carboniferous and measured 60 cm of scale.

They have on the head a pair of very short antennas and two large eyes made up of approximately 30 000 simple eyes which give them a very piercing sight. Their oral apparatus (their mouth) is of crushing type: they can bite when they are captured.

They have two pairs of transparent and colourless wings which are not folded back towards the back at rest as at much of insects. Their three pairs of legs enable them to be clutched with the plants and to hold the preys they captured.

It is a diurnal insect (which flies during the day), living at the edge of the rivers and of the ponds. Its flight is fast and quiet, with abrupt changes of direction. Its food: insects captured in full flight, maintained by its two pairs of forefeet (of front) and reduced out of pulp by its oral parts (mouth): mosquitoes, day-flies, butterflies, flies, horseflies...

La demoiselle

Angelo Branduardi / L. Branduardi / Etienne Roda-Gil

C'est la demoiselle

Marchant sur le ruisseau

Qui t'a rendu bien malade.

Elle t'a pris ton ombre, ton rire, ta joie.

Et ne reviendra pas.

Dans le grand silence

Des souvenirs perdus

Tu trembles et tu t'agites.

Tu veux ton enfance, ton ombre, ta voix.

Elles ne reviendront pas.

C'est la demoiselle

Marchant sur le ruisseau

Qui t'a rendu bien malade

Elle t'a pris ton ombre, ton rire, ta voix.

Mais qui te les rendra?

La Pulce D'acqua

E` la pulce d'acqua

che l'ombra ti rubò

e tu ora sei malato

e la mosca d'autunno

che hai schiacciato

non ti perdonerà.

Sull'acqua del ruscello

forse tu troppo ti sei chinato,

tu chiami la tua ombra,

ma lei non ritornerà.

E` la pulce d'acqua

che l'ombra ti rubò

e tu ora sei malato

e la serpe verde

che hai schiacciato

non ti perdonerà.

E allora devi a lungo cantare

per farti perdonare

e la pulce d'acqua che lo sa

l'ombra ti renderà.

A close-up capture of this new Geum in our garden. A hardy perennial, it flowers every year.

Geums are familiar favourites in herbaceous borders, although they also work well in larger rock gardens, developing into mounds of neat, dense foliage. They need a little space for their flowers, which tend to be produced on long, spreading stems.

Geum ‘Savanna Sunset’ is acompact clump-forming perennial to 45cm tall with hairy, mid-green toothed and lobed basal leaves. Reddish stems bear coppery-red flower buds that open to semi-double, lightly-frilled pale apricot flowers deeping to coppery apricot in the centre, from late spring to summer

Without time to breathe! In the New Year I come back to the normal one!

A PARTIR DO PRÓXIMO AMANHECER...

Vou fazer meu momento...

Meus amigos, nunca mais precisarão me dar

um ombro para chorar. Vou aproveitar a presença

A partir do próximo amanhecer vou viver

minha vida, SEM MEDO DE SER FELIZ.

Vou continuar esperando.

John is one of those "how can you work that many hours and still be standing?" people who makes sure the show actually goes on (and not just while the show goes on), and an amazingly cool guy, besides. He makes sure the fans can hear, and the musicians can hear what they are playing (if he's doing monitors).

Seen here running FOH for Kirk Joseph's "Tuba Tuba" show, at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, 2012. We completely lost count of how many shows we saw him at, including the one where he was just there to hear the band (and NOT working), and ended up bailing out the tech crew at one of the clubs on Frenchmen.

(Wikipedia)

We didn't lose power, don't worry, but after me mentioning that we might lose power yesterday, she wanted to know what we would do without it :) So I told her that we would light up some candles and tell each other stories. She loved the idea and wanted me to turn off the lights tonight...She's the one who's telling me all kinds of stories and I just listen. She's got such a great imagination :)
