Sometimes the best photographs happen in the gaps between plans.

On a work trip to Northern Norway, I suddenly found myself with time to spare. A rental car, a camera bag, and a few unscheduled hours before my own flight turned into an open invitation to explore. This spot is located roughly 2.2 kilometers in front of the runway at Evenes Airport, placing incoming aircraft surprisingly close as they descend toward landing.

Instead of pointing the camera at the planes, I turned it inward—using a single car door as a frame, a window within a window. What started as a playful idea became a visual pause: a moment of stillness, curiosity, and quiet humor, set against open landscape, spring light, and northern airspace.

Sometimes photography is not about the destination, but about what you notice while waiting.

Fun fact: Evenes Airport is one of Norway’s key strategic airports in the north, serving both civilian traffic and military operations—meaning aircraft approaches here are often lower and closer than many travelers expect.

Quiz: Can you spot what car this door belongs to? Give your answer below!

In Norway we have many jokes about our neighbors to the east, Sweden and Swedes. Here's one of them:

Do you know why the Swedes bring a a cardoor when they are out on a picnic? Because, when it gets too hot they can just roll down the window to ventilate........

The iron window frame on the top floor and filled-in window on the middle floor, mentioned in the previous photo, can be clearly seen.

A wonderful sunset, below a new moon, all viewed from my chair.

Doing street photography in The Philippines was amazing. Having a camera around your neck in the rural provinces draws a lot of attention and oftentime, an invitation to take a picture, capturing a moment, one with laughter, humor, and curiosity.

I saw a great foto here on flickr.com - not so long ago.

One of these "I must paint this one" things, I find sometimes by just passing through the internet.

So I saved it and made a note "clefon" ... Well there is a member of this name, but there are no photos (anymore?)...

But whatever happens to the orginal - here is my Version of this sad looking girl. I added the windowframe and changed the jacket for my painting.

Sunderland has a remarkable history of innovation in shipbuilding and marine engineering. From the development of turret ships in the 1890s and the production of Doxford opposed piston engines after the First World War through to the designs for Liberty ships in the 1940s and SD14s in the 1960s. Sunderland has much to be proud of.

Tyne & Wear Archives cares for tens of thousands of photographs in its shipbuilding collections. Most of these focus on the ships – in particular their construction, launch and sea trials. This set looks to redress the balance and to celebrate the work of the men and women who have played such a vital part in the region’s history. The images show the human side of this great story, with many relating to the world famous shipbuilding and engineering firm William Doxford & Sons Ltd.

The Archives has produced a short blog to accompany these images.

Montevideo residential tower

The 152-meter high Montevideo residential tower (2005) is located on Wilhelminapier in Rotterdam. The design of the Montevideo is by Francine Houben of Mecanoo Architecten. The residential building with 192 apartments is built next to Hotel New York. Montevideo was the highest residential tower in the Netherlands at the opening on December 19, 2005.

Thought it was time I posted some new pictures!

I made my annual pilgrimage to the City of Liverpool over the last few days, while there I paid a visit to the Liverpool Maritime Museum and Slavery Museum. While I was there, I spotted this window frame and the stark nature of the black sillhouette and white light made an impact while reading the story of slavery and the affect that it had on so many millions of people who were forced from their homes, family and country. Sadly, slavery didn't end, it still goes on today. We all have a responsibility to eradicate it for the benefit of us all.

Taking a break during a good evening at Totton

To lean or not to lean, that is the question? Is it me leaning, or the post leaning, the ground sloping, or a surfiet of amber nectar?

Considering what I married was in that window on the opposite side of this Brand New trailer I found and considering that we are looking at real life bona fide no doubts what so ever photo of an actual living breathing alien in the window on the opposite side of this Brand New Trailer I found, I married an Alien.
