Found these lovely red Chinese Lanterns in one of the local gardens and so managed to get some of these lovely orange Chinese Lanterns for display to add some colour here.
The taste of country life can also be appreciated in certain lovely details.

The abandoned Lawless Ranch House
Located west of Anarchist Summit, outside Bridesville, BC Canada
The house has decayed considerably since the last time I was in the area. The front porch cover is completely gone.
The property originally homesteaded in the 1800's by the Tedrow family from Kanas, USA.
Tedrow sold the property to William Lucien, a man originally from Quebec who had drifted west . Lucien had earlier owned a hotel in Winthrop before coming north to Bridesville in the late 1800's.
Lucien built the ranch house in 1902. The construction material was of dovetailed Tamarack timbers.
This ranch house was a way station for cowboy ranchers during the Rock Creek and Camp McKinney Gold Rush.
The main house was built for the family quarters, the building additions at the rear were built as ranch hand quarters.
(*The house as stands, is of a faded yellow colour, with light green trim)
** If you look close you may notice a lone pigeon perched on the peak of the old shingled roof.

Alaskan mountain window reflections
Six blocks of downtown Skagway, Alaska are designated as a National Historic District. Within this zone, private, state, city, and federal interests have cooperated to preserve or restore the late 1890s atmosphere.
Skagway is one of the most fascinating towns in all of Alaska. Its rich history and ties to the gold rush
Skagway is a compact city in southeast Alaska, set along the popular cruise route the Inside Passage. It's home to gold-rush-era buildings, now preserved as part of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. The White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad runs vintage locomotives past the famously steep Chilkoot trail and offers sweeping mountain views during its climb toward Canada. ― Google

Yesterday morning I had a little extra time and went to this (frozen) lake for a quick picture. This window is usually occupied by tourists taking selfies. So rare to be the only person at this lake so I had to make use of the window frame. The tree in the middle there must be a left over Christmas tree.
I was considering removing the icicle because it reminded me of snot coming out of that skull, but then I left it there.

I took a shot from my friends window in Autumn 2015 when I stayed while on holiday. Then when I was back at the beginning of Spring 2016 I couldn't resist taking another. Their view is so good, and the Kowhai tree looked AMAZING in full flower :-)

“What if I’ve forgotten the most important thing? What if somewhere inside me there is a dark limbo where all the truly important memories are heaped and slowly turning into mud?...the thought fills me with an almost unbearable sorrow.”

I took some color liberty with the wood siding and window shade, however, the the framing and artsy metal grill are untouched.
tacoma, washington
Walking along the Thames near London Bridge there are these silvered windows with warm toned metal frames. I tried a couple of different shots, one focusing on the centre window and the skyscrapers, however I think I prefer this one where the three windows create a frame of their own and you can see more of the city around to place the buildings in context better. I thought it was interesting the way the imperfect glass distorted the buildings and made them a bit wonky. Canon EOS 6D & EF 28-80mm f/2.8-4.0L
