I've always like this song as sung by Creedance Clearwater Revival. I could just picture the whole image of a wistful person sitting and the rain outside endlessly coming down. That has been our summer in Australia on the East coast.
Black & White - A white tulip, being dyed black. Not exactly what I'd had in mind, but I don't think I have time to make the shot in my head, at least not for this week. I'm going to do it anyway, maybe it'll fit another week...

Having endured the very serious drought of 2019 we moved into 2020 hopeful of the drought finally breaking. With no real drought breaking rain on the horizon we decided to get away somewhere where things were green for a few weeks.
We decided New Zealand South Island would fit the bill so flew out of Brisbane after adding a few days either side of the trip in Brisbane, on the Gold Coast and the NSW Northern Rivers.
This was to become our last overseas travel opportunity due to Covid 19 arrived in Australia in March 2020. This led to lockdowns and border closures limiting overseas and even interstate travel from then till now, July 2021.
As we now know the drought did break on February 8th 2020 and since then we have had the most consistent rain in living memory.
The pastor of my cowboy church in Florida preached yesterday about how we view the scene where Jesus was born - a cozy little stable with a soft bed of hay in a manger. He put it in a more realistic perspective though, explaining that all those years ago they might not have had cozy little barns and nice mangers like we do today. The barn very well could have been like a cave type place, with clay floors and walls, and the manger was possibly just a dug out spot in the floor - cold and damp. The lighting was probably only a candle or a torch. The barn, or stable, was probably smelly from all the animals and possibly had rats and feces everywhere. The hay might have been more like straw and not the fine farmed hay that we have today. This really opened my eyes up to what it might have really been like - that Mary and Joseph didn't have the BEST accommodations to have a child, most probably not like a sterile hospital that people have babies in today. If they could make do back in their day, we surely could do with a lot less nowadays. The world has gotten so materialistic and focused on money. Imagine roughing it, like Mary and Joseph did, and delivering a child in a cold, damp, dark, dirty place. We're spoiled! Thank you, Jesus, for providing us with all the opportunities and provisions we have today. Please keep me from taking it for granted and always remind me of the fact that you suffered on the cross for me. Amen

Week 16 of 52..."HIDDEN OBJECTS". My pug Herbie (aka "Herbie the Love Pug") thinking he is invisible (and invincible) behind the curtains.

I had the luxury of spending the entire day at the Museum of Science and Industry (in honor of Martin Luther King Day).
In the Fast Forward exhibit they have a cool interactive screen which casts your shadow. When you are very still the digital butterflies land on you. Amazing day with my little shadow.
Week #9 Glass - Glass roses. I shot this little ornament on a glass shelf, and man it was more work than I anticipated. It was difficult to keep the dust off the shelf, and my finger print smudge is on the ornament. Have to enjoy the process though. Will give this another try some time down the road.
