Week # 10 Reflections - Reflecting on a great week-end of skiing at Blue Mountain in Collingwood Ontario.
Spent a few lunchtimes around the City this week looking for shafts of light and using spot metering to pick certain scenes. Not that easy! This seemed to have a nice mood.
This year I hope to be committed to my photography. This includes learning how to use my camera in manual mode and being confident enough in my abilities so I don't fall back into the auto zone!

I'm of too see my boyfriend this weekend (on Sunday) in Portsmouth and I can't wait! I'm so excited and as I'm working tomorrow I decided to pack today. I'm useless at packing so I've repacked three times now, and will probably repack again tomorrow evening! Not long now! :D
To start this edit I changed the hue/saturation all the way to black and white, going on to change the levels of the image. Next I changed the first colour balance too +19 red and -21 yellow, then on the second colour balance added I changed it too +24 red and -22 yellow to create the toned look. After that I added the same picture in again and rubbed everything out except the windows and the coloured window through the door so they would stay in their original colour for more of an effect.

Taken at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Our daughter and her 5 year old son had taken a walk on the beach at sunrise. I went down a little later and Justin saw me coming and gave me this look that I just love.
The first thing I did to this image was crop it because I thought the area surrounding it was unnecessary. The second thing I did was I added shadows (5%) and highlights (54%). The next thing I did was edit the curves. The curves input was edited to 225 and the output to 227. I then posterized the image to 24/

Plaza Week on UCT's Jammie Steps ran from 7-11 February when some of the university's clubs and societies showcased their activities and jnvited first-year students to join.
Last week was English Week in the Secondary School with lots of creative English activities taking place. Throughout the week students were challenged with daily quizzes on language, literature and lateral thinking. On Thursday the school hosted its first ever Poetry Festival - a celebration of the written and spoken word - with students and staff taking to the stage to share their poems. On Friday we celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite book characters. To round up the week, the English department provided a 99-question quiz on all things language and literature for students to enjoy during tutor time. There was some stiff competition but Year 10 outshone all others by securing the first, second and third places! Well done and thank you to everyone who got involved.
