Spent a few lunchtimes around the City this week looking for shafts of light and using spot metering to pick certain scenes. Not that easy! This seemed to have a nice mood.
A shot from the Embankment in London, at night with a lens I've come to refer to simply as 'The Fish' due to my growing fondness for it! I love the lights of London and the way The Fish bends the string of lights above my head, almost as though trying to emulate the Eye.

ERIE, Pa. – Residents and staff from the Pennsylvania Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home took part in a Flag Day ceremony as part of the 26th annual State Veterans' Homes Week, June 11-17. The band played many favorites as well at the official songs from each of the Armed Services. The ceremony recognized the 100th Anniversary of United States involvement in WWI and posthumously honored Carl Neff a WWI veteran from the Erie area. Residents wrote and read poems during the ceremony. The 28th Infantry Division Band provided music for the residents. Pennsylvania's six veterans' homes, operated by the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, serve more than 1,300 eligible veterans and their spouses. They include the Delaware Valley Veterans' Home in Philadelphia, the Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center in Scranton, the Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home in Hollidaysburg, the Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home in Erie, the Southeastern Veterans' Center in Spring City and the Southwestern Veterans' Center in Pittsburgh. Taken at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Our daughter and her 5 year old son had taken a walk on the beach at sunrise. I went down a little later and Justin saw me coming and gave me this look that I just love.
Awesome share this week, though I wish we had some green peppers instead of the red ones. I know, most people like the red ones best, but I prefer green bell peppers. Alas... I won't complain. I plan to roast these babies. The breakdown:
2 heads lettuce
.5 lb. arugala (YAY!!! Chicken Milanese, here I come).
5 red peppers
3 leeks
1.5 lb. carrots
.5 lb. green beans
1 garlic head
2 yellow squash
1 zucchini
3 cukes
2 lbs. onions
4 lbs. tomatoes
3 lbs. (I think) potatoes (which look to be covered up in the photo)
2 eggplant
1 bunch scallions
flowers, herbs... the usual.
