I baked this special cake for my special man on his birthday:)

"This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin."

"So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin."

And so the darkness and the light vie for the allegiance of my heart...

Leo, it's so difficult to choose just ONE photo of you each week. I line up all your photos and then your dad and I spend ages going "this one? this one? this one? this one?...." There are just too many cute pictures of you.

This week you have been here for 37 weeks. You spent 37 weeks inside me, growing and turning into the tiny, dark haired, long fingered, serious looking newborn that arrived at exactly 1am on December 24th. And now you have been on the outside for 37 weeks, becoming the affable, smart, big, strong, blonde whirlwind that you are today.

When you come out the bath your dad pretends that he is a drying machine. He has a special technique for drying you which involves loads of noise and bouncing you about. You love it.

The pastor of my cowboy church in Florida preached yesterday about how we view the scene where Jesus was born - a cozy little stable with a soft bed of hay in a manger. He put it in a more realistic perspective though, explaining that all those years ago they might not have had cozy little barns and nice mangers like we do today. The barn very well could have been like a cave type place, with clay floors and walls, and the manger was possibly just a dug out spot in the floor - cold and damp. The lighting was probably only a candle or a torch. The barn, or stable, was probably smelly from all the animals and possibly had rats and feces everywhere. The hay might have been more like straw and not the fine farmed hay that we have today. This really opened my eyes up to what it might have really been like - that Mary and Joseph didn't have the BEST accommodations to have a child, most probably not like a sterile hospital that people have babies in today. If they could make do back in their day, we surely could do with a lot less nowadays. The world has gotten so materialistic and focused on money. Imagine roughing it, like Mary and Joseph did, and delivering a child in a cold, damp, dark, dirty place. We're spoiled! Thank you, Jesus, for providing us with all the opportunities and provisions we have today. Please keep me from taking it for granted and always remind me of the fact that you suffered on the cross for me. Amen

Updated version with fixed white balance

To edit this image, I first cropped the image to remove the dead space. Next, I added shadows(25%) and highlights(58%). I then changed the hue/saturation levels to hue(-22), saturation(+8) and lightness(-12). I then added an oil painting filter to that image but I changed the levels within the filter. The levels were changed to stylization(10), cleanliness(2.95), scale(3.86), bristle detail(10), angular direction(300) and shine(4.05). Finally, I edited the HDR Toning levels. These were changed to radius(46px), strength(1.36), gamma(1.12), exposure(-1.40), detail(-17) and saturarion(+20).
