Taken this morning at Beacon Hill Park, a well known park close to downtown Victoria. Beacon Hill Park is also home to the world's largest totem pole and Mile "0" of the westerly portion of the Trans Canada Highway.
After all the worry over Dirk’s DNA – as it applies to Dirlene – I decided to seek the advice of Ula, the Maury Povich of Sierra Leone. Ula does not use blood tests to find the results but the Flowery Fish Wheel. In a very long drawn out complicated process - which I will simplify here by saying “she spun the wheel” – I came home with some surprising results. As I opened the envelope my insides turned to fluid with anticipation. . . .it seems Dirk is NOT the father of Dirlene! (In fact it seems he was rendered sterile by electric watermelon and other exotic fruits). I have some homework to do as there seems to be two possibilities to the paternity – Evis & The Milkman!

This has been a week of fun and surprises.
The sunshine has appeared and it feels like summer. Several afternoons have been spent in the park, enjoying the sunshine with revision open in front of me. However far to much time has been spent in front of the computer doing coursework.
There have been lots of meeting up with friends, lots of dancing and time spent with dancing people. And lots of laughter…I am now exhausted.
My love and prayers go out to two particularly special people, who despite having very different situations are being so unbelievably brave.
Very excited for next week, and I need to scan so much film that I’ve just developed!!

Hello! This is my first post in the 52 week project group. This week was pretty stress-filled for me but I pulled myself up by my bootstraps and decided midway through that a change of attitude was in order. I have created a budget, developed a new attitude about keeping order in my house, and have gotten control over my marriage (somewhat). This Photo sort of represents the washing away of an old version of myself and being more proactive in becoming a productive, clean, responsible adult.
I meet this little fellow today.. he was so tired so he had to go to his little box and take a nap : )
Storytelling: Geometric Shapes
Triangles, squares, and circles. They are all very strong compositional elements in an image. Find a way to use geometric shapes in your storytelling.
Story Telling: Good photographers can take beautiful images of something. Great photographers can take an image that tells its story. This category makes use of compositional rules and directed prompts to push you towards not just looking at the beauty of something, but to find a way to tell that something’s story.

34 weeks 5 days. getting thrashed by baby kung fu every night. other than sleeplessness, feeling pretty good, with occasional bouts of upset that i can't fit any of my shoes or boots (or anything else).
trying to make a decision about travelling out of the country with the nub in early January. could be fun, could be very exhausting.
spent sunday morning with these cuties :) you have no idea how many shots it took to get this right ha ;) had such fun though and as usual i was laying in the grass to get the right pic :) ethan wanted to take some pics so all the way home he was using my camera to take pics of flowers and wasps :)
To kick off the 2007 Teen Read Week, the Library’s fifth annual Teen
Photography Contest was held. The theme was "Food Fun," encouraging teens ages 12-18 to take a creative or unique photograph featuring food.
Dearest Maddy,
This week, we had to learn a new way of napping, after you succeeded in breaking your mama (or rather, causing her to reaggravated a pre-existing disc injury). It was rough (still is, really), but you're getting better at not napping in the carrier, and we are very very proud of you for it!
You watched some Olympics with mama this week, which you seemed to enjoy, but don't get used to it, sweetie - we don't actually watch very much TV in this household outside of special events like this!
You are obsessed with pulling up on things, especially mama, and are getting SO fast with your little bear-crawl, too. You tried out a walker wagon while we were out today, and you were REALLY into it. Maybe we can ask for one for you for an early birthday present! You'll probably be walking without one before your birthday, anyway. You are such a little daredevil, and covered with bruises to show for it!
We love you so much, darling, daring Madrigal!

ok FINALLY found where i got those other fonts from. The fonts I used for the last piece, 'Rochester' and 'NeoPrint', and the 'Black Oak' font i used in this piece i found here:

With this one I tried to use less defined objects and try to just use simple lines and text to get the shapes and feel i wanted. The text sort of accidentally started to get this whole wrapped bandage feel to it which I thought was kind of cool and fit the theme so I tried to work with that.
The background I added after feeling that the piece was a little flat with a plain black background. Its actually a whole bunch of music notes since the obvious first response to the sentence is to think of music. At least it was for me anyway.
It was my aunt and uncle's anniversary. They put on a bit of a do for friends and family. I insisted on a self-portrait with them. It would have been rude not to.

A new twist on an old technique - this is a couple of filter boxes placed on a laptop screen to backlight them. The natural polarised light from the screen shows the stress patterns when photographed through a polarising filter on the lens.

Week 15
Sorry guys, I've been neglecting you of my fabulous photography (yes, that was sarcasm) heh. Well here it is. I had a way cuter idea for this week because it was my one year anniversary with my boyfriend but alas we have a horrible time coordinating times and it didn't work. I'll worry about that once I'm done with all of this schoolwork. School is so time consuming my gosh. Or maybe it's the working full time...
Anyways about the photo! So as many of you may know, Easter was really nice. I mean, reeeeally nice. The weather was amazing and I couldn't pass up walking around to take photos by the cedar river. By far, one of my favorite places around here. I got some good photos of flowers but this picture really got my attention. It looks like a super cool screensaver or something. Very cool (in color) but also delicate. It's not amazing but... I like it!

I was walking around the Sculpture Garden of the Kröller-Müller museum today when I spotted these colourful chairs down a path. I couldn't resist going to take their photo. I hope the people who wandered down the path after me weren't disappointed to find nothing put these leftover chairs down there :)
Oh and if any of you are planning to visit NL, you should put Kröller-Müller on your list of places to see!
