Paper was proving to be a real challenge. I stumbled across a bag of 83 paper cranes and I decided to use them.
Bryce, "The Girly Girl". You can always catch this girl at the mall with a few friends getting her nails done, but you will never see her on the soccer field. Her family is very rich.

As most of you know, my family and I participated in the Relay for Life in Dauphin, Manitoba on Friday night in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. What an incredibly moving event. As my middle son said the next day, it was "really, really, really sad at times, but really, really, really happy at other times" and I am so proud of my nephews and my boys for raising money and participating in the walk. My family has unfortunately been touched by Cancer in many ways. My Dad had colon cancer, and beat it. My Uncle had cancer, and unfortunately passed away at the age of 60. I also lost two grandmothers and a grandfather to this dreadful disease. We have also lost dear friends as well. Taking part in an event like this gives us hope that there will be a cure found someday. We laughed, we cried and we walked.....for twelve hours straight into the wee hours of the morning. I bought two luminaries in memory of my grandmothers. It was incredibly moving to light those candles and tell my kids about the great grandmothers they unfortunately never had a chance to know. Hats off to the organizers of this event, they are truly heroes in my mind. And thank you to my family for walking along-side me. I will never forget this night.

ok FINALLY found where i got those other fonts from. The fonts I used for the last piece, 'Rochester' and 'NeoPrint', and the 'Black Oak' font i used in this piece i found here:

With this one I tried to use less defined objects and try to just use simple lines and text to get the shapes and feel i wanted. The text sort of accidentally started to get this whole wrapped bandage feel to it which I thought was kind of cool and fit the theme so I tried to work with that.
The background I added after feeling that the piece was a little flat with a plain black background. Its actually a whole bunch of music notes since the obvious first response to the sentence is to think of music. At least it was for me anyway.
A new twist on an old technique - this is a couple of filter boxes placed on a laptop screen to backlight them. The natural polarised light from the screen shows the stress patterns when photographed through a polarising filter on the lens.

I really love my front step.
there's a lot of something inside of me today. I can't really talk about it, not because it's secret, but just because I don't know what to say or where to start. I guess the only thing I could say is that I'm very low today.
My Grandpa is very, VERY sick and I'm very worried.
I spent a long time on my front step, with God this afternoon, seeking comfort and answers, peace and hope... mostly love. I don't know why I don't do it more often. He wants to be with me all the time, every second, minute, hour... day and night, and I only give Him moments? Selfish. I do not deserve His grace, yet it's always there.
I'm debating a 365 project... at least 1/3 of my flickr friends are doing it and I think it'll help me grow. So if I do start it, consider this day 1 (and oh how I WISH I could say my legs aren't really that white). We'll see though, I know I'll take the photo everyday, it's just POSTING it that I'll slack on.
EDIT= 52 weeks instead of 365 days for me... and not all self portraits I don't think. we'll see where it takes me I guess.
Very nice owl. I almost lost it schtomping around in the bush trying to get a clearer shot. I was sure I had spooked it, and I was just about to continue on, when I saw it again. It let me do even more schtomping around to get this shot. I left it to its nap.
week 37
I was walking around the Sculpture Garden of the Kröller-Müller museum today when I spotted these colourful chairs down a path. I couldn't resist going to take their photo. I hope the people who wandered down the path after me weren't disappointed to find nothing put these leftover chairs down there :)
Oh and if any of you are planning to visit NL, you should put Kröller-Müller on your list of places to see!

Week 16 / 52 Weeks
This week's theme is fences. I found this fence while at a local park. It is one of the horse enclosures.
Well, you can't see that the water is moving but it definitely does. I really like this small river.

Collingwood Ontario hosts the worlds largest Elvis Festival every July. I just happened to capture a Tribute Artist, or perhaps he's the real Elvis. ETA is Jack Berger.
My daughter thinks it is so FUNNY when she runs towards me while I'm taking pictures. It is the best way to get a real smile out of her. This is during an attempt at a photo shoot to model this dress for a lady I bought it from. :) My little pageant princess :)
A little too cold for my liking to wonder outside this week, so I rummaged through the house to find some historical artifacts. I'm not much of a history buff, and don't collect a lot of stuff, but I came across this newspaper I kept for my grandkids to have as a reminder of the history that was made during the presidential election of 2008. I used my Canon 7D, Canon 85mm 1.8 lens and natural window light.
