I am savoring every last moment as homeschooling and child raising comes to an end; my heart is excited and expectant for every new thing that is about to begin.
Week eight of fifty-two.
I got this sweatshirt for Christmas. It's way to big but I wear it anyways.
i did not cut my head off on purpose.
Bellinis and Italian subs for brunch...I think I hear someone at the door, Mom...Why don't you go find out who it is? I'll stay riiiiight here and guard your food from the other dogs for you. It will be safe.

This week I had the pleasure of photographing Michael McCallum, a talented local filmmaker and actor. Check out his work at www.rebelpictures.net
Thanks to Nancy B. for the great images to work with. I don't have any markers so I did this with a paintbrush and looks kind of messy. Does anyone have any suggestions on good markers?

Week 36: Right Time, Wrong Lens
Category: Technical and Creative!
I like my camera. It is a glorified point and shoot but very versatile. But sometimes, like when a shy hummingbird lands in a branch a little bit away, I wish I had a nice telephoto with some power.

Another crazy week of Physie and Photoshoots... I love being busy but I'd love a day off soon!
When Lucy naps, she has to have her favourite toys around her. To her right is 'Puppy', in front is 'Mr Feets' and beside her is a ball. The toys take priority at all times and look out if you're not paying attention to her, any of the above will be placed on your lap and she'll sit back watching closely with her puppy-dog eyes until you play with her.
It's her birthday on Thursday! I want to get a nice shot of the Noodle Pup in some sort of celebration... But I'm not sure how yet!
this week was very stressful because i had a lot to do for school...
i thought about the time in september..our class did a language holiday in Cannes. it was a lot of fun and actually we didn't talk frensh - only in the lessons we had in the morning :D
the beach was beautiful and the city too!
one day we visited a parfumery and there we got this thing which is on my picture...actually i don't know what it really is. i think it's kind of a wet wipe to clean your fingers or something like that :P
anyways i like the flower on it and when i see it i think about the great time we spent in Cannes :)
i hope you like it (:

Olive had a great week. Mommy did not. The last three weeks she's been the happiest she's ever been. She's been sleeping better, loves socializing, rolling like crazy, pulling her knees under her when she's on her belly and blowing raspberries like no one's business. But in the last three weeks she's gained no weight. The doctor has us supplementing with formula and I'm taking supplements, eating protein and drowning in gatorade. After going 4.5 months without a drop of formula, I was heartbroken to give her a bottle on Tuesday. After turning a corner on reflux, she's begun to spit up buckets again. But.. she's still happy and strong. She could care less what she eats. And if she starts gaining weight, then I guess I don't care either. I imagine parenthood is all about adjusting and letting go, I'm just getting some practice in early.

So, with the theme this week being "spice" my mind immediately went to the movie Dune. Now, how could I incorporate a mound of spice into a shot? Well, it's labor day weekend and I'll be BBQ'ing on the Traeger (wood pellet smoker) so why not use the dry spice rub that I'll use on my brisket for the shot? Why not, indeed. 2 of my favorite things. Slow smoke BBQ'ing and photography in the same place at the same time! And, the inner geek spoke to me and told me to use a quote from Dune just to add a bit of levity to a shot involving raw meat. I kept it simple with one 500 watt bulb camera right to create some shadows. With a bulb on the other side I lost the contrast in the spice mix and it looked too flat. Happy Labor day all!
