On mature 'reflection' !!! I decided I preferred this image to the one I originally posted, so apologies for adding confusion! . Several months ago I bought a small ornamental crystal ball for a couple of euro. It has remained sitting in its box on a shelf until this week, when I thought I might use it for our 'GLASS' theme. A cold miserable start to the day thankfully gave way to some blue skies in the afternoon, so a trip to the local beach was called for. I put the crystal ball on my tripod, and then as the image reflected is inverted, I later inverted the photograph.
Week 2 theme is "water refraction". I tried everything with the water drops to no avail & finally used a glass of water & some colored paper. The refraction is shown in the reversal of colors in the background & water. I used aa SB800 flash with a grid on it fired by CyberSync triggers.
Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, Mount Vernon, WA
April 2013
It was a yucky, yucky day out but you can't tell at all while looking down at the tulips!
A composite of a stucco wall, a hibiscus flower, a squirrel, and a cloud. I played with blend mode for each layer in Photoshop for abstract effects and duplicated layers also.

The Maverick Stampede began full speed with the MavsMeet Convocation on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at College Park Center. University leaders and guest speaker deejay Edgar "Shoboy" Sotelo inspired students to do their best in the academic year ahead. The AfterParty provided a fun time before classes started the next day. The Welcome Week extends into September with social gatherings around campus so students canget to know each other and UT Arlington.

WEEK 10/ Story: Perspective/ Perspective for the purpose of this challenge is the relationship of objects in the scene. If you really want a challenge this is a good chance to use forced perspective. #Dogwood52 #instagood #project52 #dogwood2017 #dogwoodweek10

After having spent a few weeks, looking for a decent field full of poppies, it was typical that I found a fantastic patch of them virtually on my doorstep this morning. Whatever the weather I made a promise to go back out this evening to take some shots.
However......the strong winds and heavy rain in the hours between had blown the petals off most of the flowers leaving only a few stragglers so that when I got there the field was bare.
Whilst out I made the most of the sunset and strong winds and took a few shots anyway.
This week's challenge was to critique our own photo editing...and redo. I set this shot up several times and played with all kinds of compositions before I settled on one of the simpler ones. I will still be looking for a better background...this bench is too narrow. Without Lightroom I did all my editing in PSE10 including some minor changes in hue and levels and adding a warming filter. I also added two of Kim Klassens textures, Desert and Subtly Yours. I still find it a bit dark along the bottom edge but preferred it to some of my other edits.
52 Weeks - Week 5 (View On Black - View Biggie-Sized)
Playing with layer masks, gradient masks, and all manner of things Photoshop. Weird, I know, but I had fun creating it.
Got my MRI done today. Now, I need to schedule another appointment with the orthopaedic surgeon, to have him look at the films. Last night, after picking up the Methylprednisolone he'd prescribed (I can see that it's related to Prednisone), I was looking at the information included in the prescription. This is an oral steroid that is sometimes prescribed to reduce inflamation. In my case, it was prescribed to reduce inflamation of the bulging disc in my neck. The information included with the pills indicated that there was reason to be concerned if one has one of several medical conditions, including hypothyroidism, which I do. So, I'm not going to take these pills. Fortunately, the prescription only cost me $5.
For a surgeon, he seems more interested in prescribing me pills than in fixing this problem. That's all he's done since I started seeing him about this problem 3+ years ago. I find that rather disturbing. Doctors and the pharmaceutical industry benefit greatly when people are kept in need of their services, not when people are made better. That needs to change.
Our warm wet weather has the clover in our backyard growing like crazy. It just seems wrong to mow in February (or maybe I'm just lazy!) so it grows on.
For the monochrome theme at 52 in 2013.
To get the full clover goodness, press L and view on black.
The local Mexican restaurant at the end of our street goes all out for Halloween. We walked down for lunch with Jenny and Dani 15 minutes before they opened today, otherwise, it's a 45 minute wait to get in during this time of the year.

Last weekend we had snow and sunny weather with minus degrees and now we have sunshine and plus degrees and all the snow is gone. Crazy weather.

Woefully overdue for a belly shot. Totally missed the 35-week mark. Technically, I'm 36 weeks and 4 days pregnant here.

This is one of the many masks we have around the house and in the yard. This is a big one, almost a foot and a half across, and one of my favorites.
For the Something that begins with M theme at 52 in 2013.
My first attempt at fireworks using the Bulb setting. They were quite far off in the distance. Wish they had gone on for longer though so I could have tried some more settings. Lots of fun!
