Week 51: Black and White Minimalism! The Devils Ivy...because it is so difficult to kill.

except for a bit of rain, the past couple weeks have been one of the mildest autumns we've enjoyed. After a few complications with my ruptured bile duct, then a blood infection that was hiding and took a while to find in a lab culture, and a week on IV antibiotics my gallbladder was finally evicted. I was hoping the past many months of ill health were coming to a close. Unfortunately, after a week of testing negative while admitted to hospital, I tested positive for covid on the 7th day. That cancelled my last ERCP to remove the blockages and shunt put in last month. Somewhat on hold with getting all fixed, but hoping to end 2022 much healthier. Through this all Halle Lu has been amazingly careful and attentive with me. Today I went outside for the first time and sat in a lawn chair with my real camera. Had my favourite 70-200mm lens on the Canon which I realized instantly was a mistake. Halle Lu was so excited to have me outside with her again she wouldn't go more than 10" away from me. Had to call my husband outside to lure her away. You can tell by the slight torquing of her front paw she held still for only a 1/2 second then raced back to me. She had a blast! I'm itching to be well enough to hike, play and be active with her again.

Halle Lu trivia: my husband Don needed to use chicken breast and lots of calling to get Halle Lu far enough away from me to take her pic

The kids have been teaching the Pinkies a new trick.

My photograph for Week 17 of the Dogwood 52 Week Photography challenge.

This week's brief was to shoot a portrait using loop lighting.

One week of my new healthy living regime done.

I almost met my goals this week, but not quite.

Here is what I did:

Day #1 - walk

Day #2 - walk

Day #3 - day of rest

Day #4 - airport hiking hauling a rather large cat

Day #5 - water aerobics

Day #6 - water aerobics

Day #7 - day of error - no time

Aside from this, being back into my old routine, I found it hard to always eat at reasonable times, so I caught myself eating dinner late on 3 of these nights. I'd like to eliminate the late night eating.

And how do I feel after week one? Way more energized.

Week 24 - 16-23 June

Took this and did a bit of composite work for the hell of it. Again I'm about a few days late from the week's post... but it's been busy. More next week.

Theme of The Week -- Let’s Get Going

another take of our times. My daughter and granddaughters tested negative so my daughter had the courage to bring them to see us, within social distancing rules, for the first time in over a month.

I don't even know anymore!

Week 42 (v 11.0) - winning place for a show

I really liked this sign I spotted when we we out for a drive yesterday.

I have been late on the smoke challenge and finally go around to taking a picture of some on the landscape.

Week 5 of 52 Project: Car streaks

Spent my Saturday evening at Reculver Towers near Herne Bay in Kent. Good conditions for star trails despite there being a 3/4 moon.

This image is compiled from 86 shots of 30s @ F4 at ISO 400. Processed through the excellent StarStaX with slight adjustments in PS.

not very inspired this week. i'm wasted. i'm wondering if next year's 52 weeks project will be better for me, or if i'll even take part. i'm so burned out from client shoots right now, and have not been sleeping nights.

Theme of The Week -- Double Exposure

The flowers in front of my front door are looking lovely at the moment.

Week 7/52

"I didn’t know the sky was made of glass until the day your screams became thunder, and it rained so hard, I bled. I saw the way storms were woven into you, but I didn’t think you were storing up so much wind. It nearly killed me, the way you wiped me out like that. I want you to know that I put myself back together, and I only bled for a little bit. You ripping me apart, it reminded me how well I could put myself back together. I know now that I was born to love, even if it’s not loving you. My chest is far too big to only have room for a boy who kissed me while breaking my heart. There is so much more to love than the type that sleeps in your bed. I am learning that. I am not defined by how well I fit inside of someone else’s pocket. This world is far too vast, and I swear I’ll never fold myself in again. I swear I’ll never break apart my ribs just so someone can fit more comfortably inside. I swear I’ll never tie up my veins like I did with you. I swear I’ll remember the way my mother called me beautiful before I remember the way you said I wasn’t.”

-Y.Z.

I found this quote last night and it was something I originally was about to scroll past because of is length. But, for some reason, I decided to take a moment to read it. And it struck home with a lot of aspects in my life, past and present.

I picked this portrait for its simplicity and subtle emotion. I realized from the beginning I wasn't going to put out a conceptual image every week (well, when I get around to it now) and some of it was going to be a little more quiet in nature. This is one of them. I have a few of this guy in my stream now, but this is probably my favorite so far from our multiple shoots.

Almost what I wanted to get. One more week will see me equal my 52 record!

I don't even know what this is.. but I guess it came out of just feeling there are so many things I have to or want to do.
