this week for 52 weeks for dogs, we had the theme of "catch." i have been wanting to get a picture of alice's ball-catching face, so i thought this was a good week to do it. she may not be actually catching in this shot, but a split second later, she was. :)
in case you were wondering, the orange blob at the bottom center of the photo is the incoming ball.
My take on the theme this week. One of those shots that as I was taking it I didn't realize it had any real potential until I saw it on my big screen. I chose to go with b/w for this photo to place emphasis on the repeating poles as well as their reflections in the water.

Very short for time, took a different route, framing my visiting daughter-in-law´s lovely face with a shawl, for a mysterious look at her French-Lebanese beauty.
Week 2 of my 'Straight from Camera" series. I have to admit it has made me look at the way I take pictures differently. I like the authenticity of this series.
Not sure about my facial expression. It looks like I'm laughing, but that definitely wasn't what I was doing. The long exposure while shaking my head made it hard to control the final outcome.
Tried some levitation this week! My second strobe has arrived so placed one outside the door and one behind me to subtely light my feet and jeans. The trick was achieved with the help of a chair and then taking another image without chair but with strobes still firing.

One Yongnuo 560 outside at 1/4 turned sideways. One Canon 430EX II placed diagonal to feet at 1/32.

I am now 37 weeks...full term baby!!
I had an u/s last Thursday and they estimated Tres to weigh about 7 pounds. Yes at 36 weeks! But that sounds about right since Jake was born at 38 weeks and weighed 8.5lbs. I don't know how I grow these big babies!! I am happy to be full term though...sigh of relief. Thank you Tres for behaving! :)
I got bored today since I finished editing my last session of the year (thank God!)...so I will be posting a few more belly pics later...

This is a book I bought but haven't got around to reading it yet. I read reviews on this book and many people claim this solves the very interesting mystery of The Zodiac Killer so the sooner I read it the better.
I don't like shooting in harsh sunlight which is why I shot this while the sun was still very strong. I want to learn to control the types of lighting I'm least comfortable with.

This is Bragi J. Ingibergsson, 45 and a pastor at Víðistaðakirkja in Hafnarfjörður.
I had to shoot an environmental portrait for a school assignment so I decided to "kill two birds with one stone" and use that shot for my 7th week as well and Bragi was more than willing to model for me. He is a very nice guy, well probably has to be since he is a pastor but we probably spent more time talking about photography during this shoot than taking photos :)
Lit with a single bowens monolight with a 100x100cm softbox, opened the curtains on windows on either side of the altar to get some light in there and took this hand held, very minimal processing, pretty much just standard raw conversion stuff.
with her new halo holders installed (hair bands to make two ponies over her eyes) she's upped her speed during zoomies. Some people call them puppy horns, i like to refer to the little ponytails as 'halo holders'. they help keep her angel halo from slipping right off...
Scarlett trivia: at 17.5 weeks old her hair is long enough for bands.

My trip to California yielded some amazing vinyl finds. The guy at Atomic Records in Burbank placed his hand on top of a brown 45 case and said, "I'll give this to you for $6. I don't know what's in it, but I don't feel like going through them all." After some brainstorming on how the heck I was going to get the case home without checking a bag, I said I would buy it. Inside I counted 87 records! All of them were old 50s-early60s rock and roll. I still haven't even listened to all of them yet! Another great find is that Mondo Inferno record which features groovy tunes from around the world.
