Belgian postcard. Mamie van Doren. Collection: Carla Bosch.

I asked my friend, postcard collector Carla Bosch to select 12 cards for us which she found in 2021 and which make her feel good. And wow, her selection made us feel good too! Don't miss her special post at EFSP on 18 December! Thanks, Carla.

The Fortress of Van is a massive stone fortification built by the ancient kingdom of Urartu during the 9th to 7th centuries BC, and is the largest example of its kind. It overlooks the ruins of Tushpa the ancient Urartian capital

An unusual find outside Campbell's in Alexandria was this Van Hool Astromega, OW14 LKD. Presumably recently disposed of by Stagecoach Fife (although they appear to have left an Ops Disc in the holder) ifor whatever reason it has now appeared here. I didn't check the offside to see if something was amiss there.

Never seen one of these vans around before but you can see the front's taken from the Taxi model.

More photos of mini-me Sophia outside today. This photo would have been quite nice if the shoes weren't there, but then I remembered the story behind them....

So ever since last year we have had these two pairs of shoes outside the front door. One of them is mine (but do not have shoe-laces?) and I do not know who the other pair belong to. Past housemates?

Everytime my mum comes to visit she scolds me for keeping them outside, but I just tell her they remind me of van Gogh shoes.

I'm sorry mum I'm an art history nerd.

This bus started out as Qbuzz 2026, later passed to Arriva Touring where it operated under running number 276. Now it is operated by Van Driel, for Arriva. Here it is seen waiting to operate a school service.

The sky above the dunes looked like it was painted by Vincent Van Gogh, utterly surreal yet beautiful.

Ken gave me a GRAND experience for my birthday this year- we went to see Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience! Oh MY! Incredible! I felt like I had stepped into Vincent's world! It engulfs you in this wonderful exhibition of ever changing paintings, from wall to wall and onto the floor! Ken & I would have stayed all night! It was so wonderful!

I knew the changing works were going to be projected on the walls, but I hadn't realized how cool it would be that it went all the way onto the floor, so you did feel "inside" the painting!" Seeing the texture, the colors, each stroke of the brush! WOW! We loved it!

Stay tuned for more, and like Mardi Gras photos, I hope I don't wear it out, but I am enjoying seeing it all again even as I post them! SO grand to share! There are quite a few to show! :)

I've been going through old family pics and I found this one of my parents' van. We had it when we lived in Maine. I wish they still had it! I remember standing up looking out that back window waving at people.
