Although it looks a somewhat fragile and experimental vehicle, this German Phänomobil was an extremely successful car, a few thousand being produced between 1907 and 1927.
Various models were available; passenger cars as well as delivery vans. Even the Netherlands had a distributor: Baakman in Assen, which recommended the car ‘for commercial use as well as touring and racing’.
The model on display is a light van that was probably used in the Karlsruhe area. The air-cooled, four-cylinder, 1.5-litre engine proves that the car must have been produced in or around 1912, the year in which these engines were introduced.
The Phänomobil was manufactured by the Phänomen-Werke in the German town of Zittau in the state of Saxony, which later became part of East Germany. In 1927 the firm switched to producing lorries under the name ‘Granit’. The factory was nationalised in 1945.

I saw this van, and I couldn't not take a picture of it. It is too amazing. I wish I could've bought some, but the guy with the van said he didn't have the keys.

The Bedford Rascal is a microvan also built as the Suzuki Supercarry as a joint developement between GM and Suzuki. Sold in the UK as a Bedford until rebadged in 1990 as a Vauxhall Rascal and built at the IBC Vehicle plant Luton until 1993 when production was moved to Japan. As a van it had a maximum payload of 550kg and 575kg in pick up form. Its 970cc engine has an output of 44bhp.
Also sold as a Holden Scurry in Australia (1985-86), a Chevrolet Supercarry in Ecuador and in India as a Maruti Omni powered by a smaller three cylinder engine.
The body on this vehicle is a Romahome designed by Evans Developments from Portsmouth in 1977 originally for a Honda TN-Acty Flatbed Pick Up. When Island Plastics purchased the design it was mounted on a Honda Acty, a Daihatsu and Suzuki ST90K then the Supercarry/ Bedford Rascal pick ups.
