More photos of mini-me Sophia outside today. This photo would have been quite nice if the shoes weren't there, but then I remembered the story behind them....
So ever since last year we have had these two pairs of shoes outside the front door. One of them is mine (but do not have shoe-laces?) and I do not know who the other pair belong to. Past housemates?
Everytime my mum comes to visit she scolds me for keeping them outside, but I just tell her they remind me of van Gogh shoes.
I'm sorry mum I'm an art history nerd.
A photo of Jan Edgecombe, (Jan's Van web site), taken at Bampton Fair. This lovely lady always turns up at Bampton and other places, children of all ages paint, chalk and decorate her van. They have a great time!
Commer introduced its walk-through van in 1961. In the Netherlands they were used in large numbers by distribution company Van Gend & Loos.

I've been going through old family pics and I found this one of my parents' van. We had it when we lived in Maine. I wish they still had it! I remember standing up looking out that back window waving at people.

Het kunstwerk is gemaakt door Chris Ripken (Rotterdam 1956) en staat symbool voor vrijheid van meningsuiting. Het beeld bestaat uit een 3,5 meter hoog mozaïek dat een hoofdloze oermoederfiguur moet voorstellen. Daaromheen liggen vijf hoofden, symbool voor de vijf continenten, in de kleuren zwart, geel, wit, rood en oker, gelijk aan de verschillende huidskleuren van mensen. (tekst geleend van FaceMe)
Voorafgaand aan de totstandkoming van dit kunstwerk was de kunstenaar verwikkeld in een meningsverschil m.b.t. een oproep oproep. Misschien interessant om te lezen waar dit over ging.
De "oude" muurschildering is vervangen door iets nieuws. Jammer, vond de vorige veel mooier.
Ken gave me a GRAND experience for my birthday this year- we went to see Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience! Oh MY! Incredible! I felt like I had stepped into Vincent's world! It engulfs you in this wonderful exhibition of ever changing paintings, from wall to wall and onto the floor! Ken & I would have stayed all night! It was so wonderful!
I knew the changing works were going to be projected on the walls, but I hadn't realized how cool it would be that it went all the way onto the floor, so you did feel "inside" the painting!" Seeing the texture, the colors, each stroke of the brush! WOW! We loved it!
Stay tuned for more, and like Mardi Gras photos, I hope I don't wear it out, but I am enjoying seeing it all again even as I post them! SO grand to share! There are quite a few to show! :)
