Chambley Mondial Air Balloons 2009 is started.
The first big event after Saturday flight was the take off of the UP balloon (yep, like in the Pixar movie).
More photos to come, stay tuned.

It's always windy in the rough north of Norway. On some days it was even difficult to walk, one day the wind knocked me over, another day it carried my camera backpack 1m towards the abyss. I knew that this was the case. For this reason I wanted to take my robust "iFootage Gazelle TC" tripod with me, but 22 kg of luggage for a photo-hiking-camping trip to the far north means you have to make compromises. And so my "Manfrotto 732CY Carbon-Basalt" with the small ball head accompanied me, weighing just 1,200 grams with the ball head and quick-change plate. Yes, it's not quite as stable as the big tripod, it's somewhat limited in its functions and it's smaller, but I managed surprisingly well with it on my trip 😊.

This was shot at Palo Duro Canyon in Texas. I pointed my wide angle lens straight up to the sky and shot this at 10mm.
After dropping some rail on the Shoreline Subdivision near Sheboygan, an empty rail train led by a GP60 and SD70ACe for power crosses the old CNW trestle bridge across the Milwaukee River.

A wonderful, new to me place that I visited in the Ottawa area while visiting my best bud in the city.

UP 7888 rolls east on the Kansas Sub just east of Loring on a very hot summer night.
Do you know about air density? You should. Flying a drone in 100 degree heat will test your drone out pretty well and the performance will suffer greatly and your battery is way less efficient because the bird has to work a lot harder to stay in the air.
This concludes today's FAA 107 lesson.
The title is a track from the latest and final Richmond Fontaine cd, we are going to see them live in bristol in the next two weeks. I thought it was perfect, because on bright sunny days I look for sand patterns instead of skies! This feature looked to me like a washed up Ray sitting on the beach, and I could imagine it waking up and swimming off the sand back to the sea!!!

Test roll with a new second plastic fantastic Holga. This one has more corner/edge blur, and will most likely be my b/w Holga.

40 loads of cement trail a trio of Union Pacific road motors moments from knocking down the intermediate at 366.5 just below Monolith on the eastside of Tehachapi. The train originated in Mojave with loads from Creal and Monolith making up the Stockton bound train. The intermediate searchlights here were retired and removed only a few months later.

A pair of CF&E SD40-2s scream through the sleepy hamlet of, well, Hamlet, on their way to Fort Wayne.
It's pretty quiet around here on the former Pennsylvania Railroad's Fort Wayne Line nowadays, a far cry from when dozens of trains including the Broadway Limited would blast through here behind a pair of K4s or a T1, some EP22s, or hell, even Amtrak F40PHs.
At least the tracks still exist to give the townsfolk a few wake-up calls a day.
