Hamburg - Moments

The hump at UP's Englewood Yard is unique in that the crest spans a main line, in this case the two main tracks of the former HB&T East Belt.

Having just finished shoving a cut over the hump, this hump set awaits instructions before heading to pick up its next cut. In the distance, a yard transfer out of UP's Settegast Yard has just cleared below as it rolls south.

I had the good fortune to come across this gentleman just as I was about to pack up the camera and call it a day. He had a personality as big, outgoing, and bright as the day is long and I'd wager a large sum he's a Vet which his bearing suggests. Dr. Maya Angelou could have had him in mind when she penned her well known quote:

"Be a Rainbow in Somebody Else's Cloud"

And, Yes, he does play Santa Clause at Christmas ! : ))

Train No. 8140 is heading up the Cullerin Range with a loaded wheat train in Feb 2022. Lash up consisted of 2 bigs and 4 small.
