Cattle Egret
Bubulcus ibis
Taken in Santa Rosa, CA, USA. As mentioned before, until I took these shots, I'd never seen a cattle egret in Sonoma County.

a few months after the start of the full scale Russian invasion in Ukraine this aircraft operated 2 flights, respectively in April and May picking up all Russian Diplomats out of Belgium and the EU as a direct consequence of breaking all diplomatic lines.
Due to severe overflight restrictions (basically only allowing it to fly over international waters and the country of final destination) this flight from Moscow took over 6,5h flying one way , flying from the east of the baltic states around finland and scandinavia, over the north sea to enter Belgium via the coast which is absolutely not the usual route.

These charming pottery figures were in the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion , Crete. They were made by the extraordinary Minoans ca. 1300 - 1200 BC . In some respects , they remind me of ancient chess pieces but on the far right is one described as the Poppy Goddess . With their stylised stance they could well be of religious/mythological significance, praying or offering blessings .

UP is this week's prompt for one of my groups. I went into NYC to visit family and with all those skyscrapers way, way UP, I took a picture of a squat building's reflection.
I'm leaving town and won't have time to comment so I'm disabling them on this picture.
Enjoy the weekend!

It's almost summer here in Edmonton, and the scooters are out and about everywhere around the city. I came across these that were perfectly lined up by a local bar, just waiting to be taken out on their next adventure.
Chambley Mondial Air Balloons 2009 is started.
The first big event after Saturday flight was the take off of the UP balloon (yep, like in the Pixar movie).
More photos to come, stay tuned.

It's always windy in the rough north of Norway. On some days it was even difficult to walk, one day the wind knocked me over, another day it carried my camera backpack 1m towards the abyss. I knew that this was the case. For this reason I wanted to take my robust "iFootage Gazelle TC" tripod with me, but 22 kg of luggage for a photo-hiking-camping trip to the far north means you have to make compromises. And so my "Manfrotto 732CY Carbon-Basalt" with the small ball head accompanied me, weighing just 1,200 grams with the ball head and quick-change plate. Yes, it's not quite as stable as the big tripod, it's somewhat limited in its functions and it's smaller, but I managed surprisingly well with it on my trip 😊.

After a long wait for a busy Lafayette District to clear up, D93 finally has the light up the hill back towards Lafayette. The conductor climbs up on the 7111, shortly before they depart west.
This was shot at Palo Duro Canyon in Texas. I pointed my wide angle lens straight up to the sky and shot this at 10mm.
