I could hear this Anna's Hummingbird in the bushes and very shortly after I spotted it, away it went.

Conforming to the reverse curves between Heard and Hermosa eastbound tonnage challenges gravity on the climb out of Laramie to the top of Sherman Hill. A diminutive male blue-gray gnatcatcher puffed up. This Canon lens/camera really catches the details of the feathers. The black eyebrow indicates this is a male.

One of the famed (or profaned?) double coal loads stretches for as far as the eye can see. The power is 2x3x1 with nearly 3 miles of train trailing, 276 loads, and nearly 40,000 tons. Impressive to see in person.
It turns out that when you climb up over the steep cliff above Fitzgerald Falls, there's this beautiful part of the forest along the rocky stream and a few more small waterfalls I'll show later on. Monroe, Orange County, New York

An intermodal approaches Valley Junction from the south. It was lined to proceed onto the MacArthur Bridge and onto the Union Pacific Jefferson City Sub.
To the left is a transfer from the TRRA Madison Yard. It is pulled forward of the switch into the yard and will start backing into the yard shortly.

A Roan and White dust up on an overcast day in the Tonto National Forest. The Four Peaks provide a nice backdrop.
High up in the Sierra a pair of SD70Ms lift a westbound 'blade' train up the grade, moments from entering Shed 47 between Andover and Eder. Donner Lake is at left.

Wrapped in clouds of steam Big Boy 4014 has paused at Carr, Colorado on the 'Greeley' for a service stop and inspection. The steam crew thoroughly examined their machine looking for the slightest of corrections to be made prior to Big Boy's big debut on Saturday May 4th.
There is not much light at Carr after dark so with thanks to the crew on the northbound 'Nixon' empties holding the siding with their brights on :}
