The night sky in the Adelaide Hills.
Taken about 6 weeks ago.
A few light painted shots of the ruins blended with a 60 second tracked shot of the sky.
As we moved up and left we placed ourselves at increasing risk. With each hit of the ice axe I watched the snow slide down beside me. If the snow headed toward the saddle then I was pretty sure we would do the same if we had fallen. But at one point, as I watched the snow break off and slide past, I saw it skate down the slope before disappearing over the edge to the abyss.
It was at this point, not far from where I am in this shot that I placed our first piece of protection. I'll admit it wasn't the best placed bit of gear. The snow was soft underneath and the change in rope direction didn't help things as it naturally pulled in the wrong direction, but some protection is better than none at all...right?
It took us much longer than anticipated to get here and there was still some distance to go. Each movement was hard fought and I found myself grunting like a tennis player as I plunged the axe into the snow. Slow as it was though we were still making ground.

UP GP60 1038 destroys another plow line as it passes through Rollo, IL. This was probably the most intense of the plow lines it hit on its run. Probably the biggest I've caught on camera so far.
Westbound grain loads swim 'down stream' along the northern bank of the Humboldt River at the east end of Palisade Canyon. The EMD powered train is running on Southern Pacific rails while those of the former Western Pacific can be seen along the Humboldt's southern bank.

CN Geometry car being filled up at Mona Jct in Waterloo, IA I thought these were diesel powered cars, but the UN1203 number is for gasoline. Possible UN number was flipped to the wrong number.

I could hear this Anna's Hummingbird in the bushes and very shortly after I spotted it, away it went.

...The woman in the snowy tunic notices Kudra. She smiles. "Do you understand what is happening here?" she inquires. "We weigh their hearts. Should a person possess a heart that is as light as a feather, then that person is granted immortality," "...The ordinary rarely beat the scales."

Sam and I agreed to end the chase at Fremont to make it easier to head back to Lincoln, so we parked a mile east of 275 and waited for him to head into town.
The light was quickly fading, but thankfully he picked up some speed again (and brought a third motor online), allowing for one last shot in the evening light before we headed home.

One of the famed (or profaned?) double coal loads stretches for as far as the eye can see. The power is 2x3x1 with nearly 3 miles of train trailing, 276 loads, and nearly 40,000 tons. Impressive to see in person.

I am doing a shoot with her big sister this Monday. :)
It was just a big tangle of vines, spanning over a whole field,
all of them growing in mounds that looked like little huts.

On a recent visit to Mazvikadei, Zimbabwe we came across some Hinged-back tortoises. I love the patterns on legs and shell!
It turns out that when you climb up over the steep cliff above Fitzgerald Falls, there's this beautiful part of the forest along the rocky stream and a few more small waterfalls I'll show later on. Monroe, Orange County, New York
I'm going on a trip for a few days, but I'll check in to see your photos now and then on my laptop. Hope everyone has a great week!
