Cropped shot of Dad's face. Doesn't he look wise and benevolent? Um, maybe except for the blood on his beak from breakfast.

"Green Heron with Water Snake" by Patti Deters. A Green Heron (Butorides virescens) bird is perched on a tree branch with a water snake snack in its beak. These small wading birds can be found near ponds and swamps, generally fishing for prey along the shoreline. Thank you for viewing this picture. I love shooting people! It's not the only thing I capture. I've been working on some new wall decor! Visit my website for a look.

Apparently, he was comfy. Only his eyes moved as he watched me walk by.

Closed on Mondays I snuck a shot through the fence. The Wormsloe Historic Site, informally known as Wormsloe Plantation, is a state historic site near Savannah, Georgia, in the southeastern United States. The site consists of 822 acres protecting part of what was once the Wormsloe Plantation, a large estate established by one of Georgia's colonial founders, Noble Jones (c. 1700-1775). The site includes a picturesque 1.5-mile oak avenue, the ruins of Jones' fortified house built of tabby, a museum, and a demonstration area interpreting colonial daily life.
National Register of Historic Places.
Decided to take a few pictures before heading off to work this morning. It was foggy, and just as I walked outside, the sun broke through. I was able to capture a few pictures of the fog before it lifted. The wooded area is a short walk from where my wife and I reside.
On the other side of the tree I found a female wood duck. She seemed to be listening intently to her mate quacking.

A bicyclist rode past the osprey's tree, and it was startled into flight. I didn't have time to bring my zoom back so this was the shot I got. Fortunately the raptor only flew a short distance to a different tree.

On the east side of Fabyan Forest Preserve, on Route 25, stands the majestic Fabyan Windmill. The 68-foot, 5-story structure was originally built by Louis Blackhaus, a German craftsman, between 1850 and 1860. The Windmill originally stood on a site in what is now Lombard, Illinois. In 1914, it was purchased by George Fabyan for about $8,000, and moved here to Riverbank.
