It was a warm, late summer day, about 85 degrees with no wind. I was playing tennis at Vermont Canyon courts when suddenly the thunderous sound of a huge tree branch crashing down stunned everyone. Wood chip dust filled the air and a car lay under the top of a tree branch, damaged. Right before I took this shot I was staring at the tree as it was still attached to the trunk wondering why this happened at that particular time on this particular day when one more wrenching sound occurred and I watched as the still-attached section of the branch snapped from the trunk and the fence beneath it rolled back in submission like a sardine can lid. Nature baby!

My wife and I took an early evening walk. As we were walking back the sun was setting. The contrail and clouds added to the beauty of the evening making the sky look very interesting.

This is just spectacular! The sun is directly behind the tree branches.

I have no idea what the size, scale, or purpose of this odd object is.

Wow the bus terminal looks like it was very inexpensively constructed.

January 15, 2020 - This afternoon we have free time to explore the city of Buenos Aires on our own. I am walking with Beti, Darlene, Nancy and Ragnhild to see the El Ateneo Grand Splendid bookstore which is located in the former El Grand Spendid theatre which dates from 1919.

Red-Tailed Hawk - not sure how I spotted this hawk having a meal in the snow. Have camera, will be looking whatever the weather

Today's attempt, in better light. But the bokeh disappeared, and I don't like the shot at all. I have a lot to re-learn [as I have used a simple little point-and-shoot for so many years and am very spoiled now]

I put a treebranch where I wished some cumulus clouds would be.

Fall leaves that look like orange paper dollars make this tree branch extra beautiful with the bright colour.

It appears as if some angel may have lost part of one of its wings during a storm. Or Icarus is back.

A tree lost its branch (probably due to a passing truck) and the water leaking out of it has formed some icicles. It never made it above freezing today, and I was attempting to photograph the drips.

I see a Hairy Woodpecker occasionally, flying in to the Honey Locust tree, rummaging around checking out the bark for fresh insects, picking up some seed before flying off for the day.

Tree Branch Horseshoe Lake Mammoth Lakes

More from my Ghost Lake adventures on New Year's Day... I haven't picked up my camera since, work keeping me too busy... *sigh*

Gorgeous fall sunrise this morning viewed from Bald Rock, Greenville County, SC, just south of Caesars Head State Park.

And since I was in the neighbourhood that same morning, stopped by to see if that Gremlin was still there... Yup! But being rapidly consumed by a tree...

Shortly after, I was hitting the highway north to the vintage motorbike rally...

Didn't plan this - was following the plane to get a picture and when it I did - well you can see

Perhaps the summer like temperatures today - or a stubborn leave not wishing to leave the tree (what no pun there!) - Low 70's with a light breeze - and blue skies - Not feeling like early Nov fall day should with winter's Jack Frost nipping at our heels
