I spotted this poppy field a day earlier and decided I would revisit it the next evening. I'm glad I did as it was a wonderful view.

This weekend is all about decorating for Christmas, and it starts with moving everything from my attic to a staging area downstairs. I did not do much decorating last year, so this year it will be very special and a bit over the top.

HAPPY EARTH DAY!

I got up early to thaw out one of our feeders and toss the bottle in the mircowave for half a minute so the hummers here in the winter could have some warm/accessible nectar to wake up to. He was quite appreciative by the sound of it.

This picture is here too www.flickr.com/cameras/sony/dslr-a200/ !!!!! So good...

The snow has turned our area into a winter wonderland. All the evergreens have a thick layer of snow and snow is piled on all fence posts. We actually are the warmest on Christmas Day then we have been for several weeks. It currently is 23 degrees F.. We do expect another system with more snow to move in tomorrow. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

Amicalola Falls is a magnificent 729-foot waterfall that’s the third-highest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi River. Image is of a portion of the main falls.

Everywhere is so dull at the moment. Yet when I went into our garden and took this photo it was wonderful to see such perfect light. I did not use a flash - just took it as it was.

I am grateful for my little Christmas tree in my office. I don't have many decorations on it, but I like a simple but bright Christmas tree to bring some Christmas cheer. I spend the majority of my day either in my office or in my workout studio area, and I just have to draw the line somewhere!!

One of my favourite flavour of Sunflowers...I just love the burgundy mixed into the orangey-yellow. I grew about 4 or 5 different kinds the summer of 2009, and never tired of photographing them, they all have such unique personalities...

We stopped in Half Moon Bay, California on our way down the coastline. Beautiful country! And, I love the name of this town. There were two large bushes laden with these blossoms in front of their jail built in 1911. The jail is maybe 800 sf...there must not be a lot of crime in Half Moon Bay.

I only have a small walled city garden and grow my plants in containers because the base is mostly concrete. The blueberry bushes do well in containers, this one gives me delicious berries in the Summer and a wonderful display of colour in the Autumn.

Deep in the forest there is light

And in that light there is life

So why do mushrooms grow in the dark?
