Dunure Castle is located on the west coast of Scotland, in South Ayrshire, about 5 miles south of Ayr and close to the village of Dunure. Dunure Castle today stands in ruins on a rocky promontory on the Carrick coast, protecting the small Dunure harbour.
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, “Lenore?”
This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, “Lenore!”—
Merely this and nothing more.

Couldn't decide wether I should post the colour or b/w versions of this shot but went with the b/w as I felt it better captured the mood and besides I've never posted a b/w sunset before :-) ... what do you think?
A quick post and run, just got in from Key West. had to give a talk at a conference in Miami, and came home via the Keys. I'll be visiting tomorrow.

Emma, I am so very happy for you. I believe in miracles... and I dedicate this photo to you. I have also included a favorite song of mine, which Stella and myself usually sing to our three children at the karaoke :))
Close to you Carpenters.
My friends, Emma has received a most beautiful and wonderful piece of news. Please visit Emma's beautiful photostream HERE.

I've never seen anything like this before, but hundreds of acres of cornfields behind my home were covered in fireflies! The whole field was just sparkling! I also took a video, you can see it here:

I have a large holly bush/tree in my front yard, and every frosty morning I check it out when I walk outside to get my newspaper. If it looks pretty, I go back inside and get my camera.
Amazingly, a small reprieve materialized and the return-to-work date was pushed back one more week. I wasn't complaining! Ha! HBW

An early morning view across a field adjoining my house, stray mist slowly dispersing as the sun bathes the leaves of a maple. Taken in Charlotte Court House, Virginia.
