The Gretna starling display
The birds congregate at sunset, first in small groups and then in larger clusters, to form a mass of over one million birds creating elaborate shapes and patterns in the sky. Raptors such as sparrowhawks and peregrine falcons make an appearance to try and pick off a bird for supper. After an aerobatic display lasting for about 20 minutes, the starlings move towards a conifer plantation where they roost for the night.
The Yoshino cherry tree is regarded as one of the most popular ornamental cherry trees in the world today. Known to be
among the earliest cherry trees to bloom, it has a delicate pendulous habit that graces the landscape with fragrant flowers with a sweet almond scent. The Yoshino cherry (also known as the Japanese flowering cherry) is the darling of the flowering tree world and the star of such renowned events as the National and International Cherry Blossom Festivals.

I've spent so much time this month, shooting the crab apple tree and bringing the blossoms indoors to shoot too. I hope I don't overdose you on apple shots for a while, as I pick some out of the many folders. The blossom is fading and the petals are all falling now ... so I have just about finished for the year! ;o)

This is where I live....well not exactly here....I was out exploring this morning and came across this sumac with the sun just hitting the tops of the trees above. We have 40 acres...lots of room to roam. Saw a bear in the Spring but I think it's gone now.
Another shot from the trip to Leith Hall we made earlier in November. The gate is prominent, but the fencing more hidden! And we guess the secluded cottage is for one of the estate groundsmen.

The landscape here is shot through with a patchwork of bright yellow as the rapeseed blooms. Set against the greens of the barley fields and pastures, and the deeper greens of the stands of forestry pines, it makes for a lively quilt ;o)

The worst October in recored history for us has left most trees bare of their Fall foliage way too early! But if you look in some very secluded and wind protected areas you can still find a tree or two that when backlit by the sun remind us of what "could have been"!!

The background of this was kind of orangey and really looked pretty bad with this lovely pink oleander bloom. I added a Hue Saturation layer and checked off the colorize box....took the saturation slider right over to the left and then just starting slowly painting the color back in. No texture used.
