In a neighbour's garden! This is just a small part of a large grandiose display.People come from miles around to see it and leave donations for a local charity.
Inspiration struck me tonight, but thanks to everyone for their suggestions. They got the creative juices flowing again. I considered "The Calm Before The Storm" but the fact that the winds were @ 40 mph belied the "calm" part. It was anything but that day.
This was taken very early morning when the thick mist was just rising from the trees. It was clear at the pond where i was standing - i was there so long the sun was trying to break free. This is 3 exposure settings - *thank you to Karl for the introduction*
so what do you all think of my efforts?
Thanks so much to Dogma and Jill for the use of their textures..:)

disclaimer: this shot was not taken in my attic or basement, obviously, but I did have to pull it out of storage
A shot almost from two years ago. This was taken in one of my favorite forests in the Netherlands (paleis tuin het Loo, palace garden Loo) because the ever present water parties, partly superficial partly natural.
This was a real STOP!! When I saw this beautiful postcard setting driving near Crowley Lake - California.

I think this may be one of the few remaining Caledonian pines in our area ...
"The Caledonian Forest takes its name from the Romans who called Scotland 'Caledonia' meaning wooded heights and covered much of the Highlands".

Today is a beautiful day to smell the flowers. 🌷 Those seats are shaped like inverted chocolate kisses- Children's Garden @ Hershey Gardens.
My daughter has several different varities of hostas growing in her yard and I've always loved them, they have such beautiful leaves! This year I bought one for my yard. I knew it was supposed to eventually bloom but I didn't know what color it was going to be. And now I am so excited... I can definitely see purple in my hostas future!!! Oh, have I mentioned lately that purple, every shade of it, is my favorite color... LOL.
On another note... we've broken yet another record with our weather... 30 days without rain... ARG!!! I mean this is Washington, The Evergreen State, it is supposed to rain! Soon as I've slept, going to have to get out there and start watering my yard again. Hope you all have a beautiful day!
A quite place of rest and peace... we need more oases in our lives in order to shed the vicissitudes of life.

I reached John Chestnut Park in Oldsmar, Florida at around 7:00. Sunset is around 8:20, but for some reason, the light at 7 was just magical the way it hit the water and caused the colors and reflections to pop. The reflection of the water by the shoreline glowed with such a striking, pastel-blue hue, I had to lower the blue saturation in Lightroom so it did not look too unreal or surreal! Twenty minutes later, the great light and magic were gone.
I've heard it said that the time just before sunset is best for taking landscapes, but I'm finding that at least in Florida, the light is most magical 1-2 hours before sunset. Perhaps that is because the sun can peer through the trees better, creating more striking shadows and reflections; towards sunset, the colorful light seems to be obscured by the trees.
...just some thoughts.
The Gretna starling display
The birds congregate at sunset, first in small groups and then in larger clusters, to form a mass of over one million birds creating elaborate shapes and patterns in the sky. Raptors such as sparrowhawks and peregrine falcons make an appearance to try and pick off a bird for supper. After an aerobatic display lasting for about 20 minutes, the starlings move towards a conifer plantation where they roost for the night.
The Yoshino cherry tree is regarded as one of the most popular ornamental cherry trees in the world today. Known to be
among the earliest cherry trees to bloom, it has a delicate pendulous habit that graces the landscape with fragrant flowers with a sweet almond scent. The Yoshino cherry (also known as the Japanese flowering cherry) is the darling of the flowering tree world and the star of such renowned events as the National and International Cherry Blossom Festivals.
Thank you very much for your kind comments and visit, much appreciated!
Shoot it with one of my old glass bottles!
I've spent so much time this month, shooting the crab apple tree and bringing the blossoms indoors to shoot too. I hope I don't overdose you on apple shots for a while, as I pick some out of the many folders. The blossom is fading and the petals are all falling now ... so I have just about finished for the year! ;o)
Happy Bokeh Wednesday!

This is where I live....well not exactly here....I was out exploring this morning and came across this sumac with the sun just hitting the tops of the trees above. We have 40 acres...lots of room to roam. Saw a bear in the Spring but I think it's gone now.
Many thanks for your support always !

I want to wish a Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates. And here's hoping that 2021 brings us all freedom and health!
I've been more off than on here, but I hope that after the holidays, I'm able to be back more regularly.
This is real snow :) We had one day of snow a couple of days ago and there's still a bit on the ground.
