These amazing trees, full of pink delicate flowers, grow at the Brueckner Rhododendron Garden. The garden sits on the shores of Lake Ontario, where the acidic soil and lake effects combine to make conditions ideal for woodland and mountain plants. A commentator below thinks this is a magnolia tree. i know in Canada we have magnolia bushes, but I don't know if we have such tall magnolia trees.
Happy Fence Friday! 😊
I've been shooting the small ranch fence by the back door for weeks now. I thought the clematis had all died (many plants do, in our northern temperatures). Then it suddenly started to grow again from the base, and has given us a glorious display of colour!
Have a lovely weekend, and stay safe!

[Written 10/28/15]:
My photoshoot today was quite an adventure! Previously, I had scouted some great locations for shooting landscapes in an area of Tampa surrounded by a nature preserve. I had my vantage point on a small hill all worked out, and was hoping for some sunrise magic with glorious shafts of sun beams piercing through the trees and a magnificently colored sky. Instead, in the darkness as I was driving to the site, it started raining cats & dogs. I muttered a few choice words under my breath, but then figured, "That's what they make umbrellas for!"
So I parked my car and with umbrella in hand, trekked out in the rain to "my spot". Fortunately, the rain let up after a while, but the sky was still so cloudy that I couldn't even see where the sun was rising. Despite the moisture in the air creating an ethereal mist, my shot wasn't happening... there was no magic. Maybe my "great" location wasn't so great after all! So I started moving around, and the moment I framed the waterlillies floating in the water amidst the glorious autumn treees in the mist, I could feel the magic. I shot and shot many exposures and positions, and unexpectedly, one good shot after another presented itself for the next hour.
I left the site with an utterly exhilerated feeling. That rush... isn't that what nature photography is all about??? :)
Explore Sept 10/07 Mute Swan, taken just before sunset, hence the natural black lighting around the very bright swan. There is no editing done in this picture, the sun was about to set to the left, leaving the background in darkness. As you see it, the photo was taken. IMG_5278
Very pleased with how I perfectly framed the south tower in the lowest opening of the north tower...lol

For the SoS group: "photo collage"
Dawn is often a magical time, and in November it can be the one bright spell of the day. Getting up early in the cold and dark is hard, but all I need to do is stand on our front lawn and shoot! So what did I shoot on this particular morning?
Some of the shots are across the howe/valley to the hillside behind which the sun is rising. There are stands of trees where crows nest, and they will rise in clouds to greet the sun! Further along are 5 massive turbines. And turning to look back at the house I can see the dawn reflected in the curtained windows.
This particular morning I went out to shoot the frost on the car windshield ... so I've included two of the frost patterns! Then as I was coming in, a skein of geese flew overhead, flying south for the winter, and making a noise as they flew. And finally as I shut the glass front door I caught the dawn colours through the reeded glass. 10 minutes later the wonderful colours were gone, and the greyness of November took over!
I make a photo collage every month to help divide up my photostream, so I used the same idea of a background texture to place the photos on. Thanks to Tota for this one 😊
Have a happy Saturday Smile and Cliche Saturday too!!
