This is a photograph from the 2021 Mullingar Half Marathon which was held in the town of Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Saturday 25th September 2021 at 09:00. All proceeds of the Mullingar Half Marathon go to the charity T.E.A.M. (Temporary Emergency Accommodation Midlands). The event, like so many others over the past 18 months, has suffered disruption to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Today's event could actually be seen as the running of the postponed 2020 event which was postponed in March 2020 in the first series of lockdown measures as part of the public health response to the spread of COVID-19 nationally and globally. The half marathon normally takes place annually on St. Patrick's Day. Today's staging of the race is a good sign that road racing and out door sporting events are returning to normal. There were almost 600 finishers of the race today. The race starts and finishes in Mullingar town and takes in some rural roads and the Royal Canal Greenway before finishing in the town park. Overall, the route is fair and reasonably flat. Today's weather was unseasonably mild with temperatures of around 16C making it for warm racing conditions.

The Nichols bridgeway is one of my favorite places to shoot. High rise building, planes, clouds, people, millennium park, view of loop, everything just falls into place.
In this shot the cloud formation looks like emission from the plane that is headed towards the two prudential plaza building. Sitting at the bridgeway with ample patience in freaking cold weather resulted in this.
Hope you like it as much as I did.
After digestion and extraction of proteins and other minerals the waste is expelled from the anus either in liquid form, or as tiny faecal pellets.
Timing cover off following a mammoth struggle with the nut for the fan belt pulley which eventually gave in to a 44mm socket and a monsterous breaker bar.
Scenes like this are not typical when you live in Brooklyn. The cottage we stayed in while in Rhode Island had a marina about a block away and every morning around 6am and every evening at around 6:30pm I would head over with the goal to capture at least one decent photograph of Golden Hour as it was happening.
This is a photograph from the 6th annual Kinnegad 5KM Road Race and Fun Run 2015 which was held in the town of Kinnegad, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 8th July 2015 at 20:00. This race has firmly estbalished itself on the local race calender and yet again the race got wonderful support from local clubs and runners. The race is flat and fast and takes runners on traffic free route which includes 3KM on the local road 'Boreen Bradach'. The finish is on the famous main street of Kinnegad in front of Harry's Hotel. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

This is a photograph from the first running of the Clonard GAA 4 Mile Road Race, Fun Run and Walk which was held in the village of Clonard, Co. Meath, Ireland on Wednesday 2nd August 2017 at 19:30. This race was organised to faciliate the continued fund raising for the wonderful new GAA facilities at St. Finian's Park - the new home of Clonard GAA. The race itself was an outstanding success with over 400 participants including over 230 participants having chip timing. The new GAA facilities provided ample car parking and space for refreshments and mingling afterwards.
The four mile distance is something of a novelty these days on the road racing circuit and the large field shows that the distance holds an attraction for runners, joggers and walkers.
The race started and finished at the new GAA pitch and incredibly only 20 meters separated the start and finish line of the race. The route took the participants east bound on the R148 towards Enfield through the village of Clonard and onwards to take a right turn onto Keegan's boreen to cross the M4/M6. The route then took a right turn on the Clonard Edenderry road to return back to Clonard with another crossing of the M4/M6 motorway.
As this was the first running of the race the support from local athletes was very visible.
Credit must go to Clonard GAA and Clonard Community Council who provided excellent organisation on all aspects of the race including event management, parking and race stewarding with the Gardai. This race can be an example to every other club in Ireland in how a properly organised race can be run.

This is a photograph from the annual Ardagh Moydow Glen Community Games 5KM and 10 Mile road races, fun runs, walks and challenges which were held in the heritage village of Ardagh, Co. Longford, Ireland on Saturday 30th December 2017 at 13:00. This year's race featured the change from last year's race where the race seen the introduction of chip timing, a new start and finish in the middle of the village at the community center and, a slightly amended route.

The 10 mile race takes in the local 'Ardagh Mountain' which is a 1 mile continuous climb starting at the 2.5 mile mark of the 10 mile race. There is, of course, then the reward of a long down-hill stretch after the summit. The remainder of the race is The 5KM race takes a loop around the heritage village of Ardagh. Overall this is a very well organised race with accurate courses, good marshalling and traffic control and excellent after race refreshments. The 10 mile race is one of the longest road races held during the Christmas period anywhere in Ireland and has appeal to runners who want to add a longer distance race to their festive calendar of running.
The weather at this year's race was very cold and windy. The rain managed to stay away but a very cold northerly breeze certainly made conditions cold. Whatever wind advantage there was for the runners was not experienced until the second half of the race. In 2014 there was very frosty icy weather and last year in 2015 participants were given a very very windy day with heavy rain at the finish of both races. The 2016 event seen very suitable weather for road racing.
Ardagh is probably County Longford's most picturesque village with many historical and architecturally important features. It is located about 6 miles from Longford town.

Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone

This is a photograph taken at the Donadea Forest 10KM race and fun run which was held in Donadea Forest, Donadea, Naas, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Saturday 12th October 2012 at 11:00. This is the 6th running of this event and the race has grown from year to year. St Kevins GAA club in Staplestown provides the venue for the start and the finish of the 10KM race is deep with the forest beside the lake and coffee shop. As a race it has grown to be a very popular event and comes in good timing for a last fast run for athletes aiming for personal bests and fast times in the forthcoming Dublin City Marathon. The race combines about 3KM of road race before entering the Forest and completing a full lap of the inner perimeter trail route of the Forest before finishing beside the Lake/Coffee Shop area in the middle of the Forest.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: There was approximately 300 participants.
Weather: The race was held on a bright clear crisp autumn morning. There was a slight breeze against the participants for the firs 2.5KM on the road but the forest canopy provided shelter from the breeze. Temperatures were perfect for running.
Course: The race starts at the Stapelstown crossroads at the bog-road to Prosperous and heads north on the road on the outside of the forest. The course then takes a right turn at The Range and again follows the perimeter of the forest. The race then enters the forest here [goo.gl/maps/LFIPq] and proceeds on an anti-clockwise full loop of the inner perimeter route around the forest. This brings participants past the lake twice with the second passing bringing runners into the finish. The route overall is one which could be considered a fast course. However there are two hills in the forest which must be tackled twice. However the shelter of the forest means that the final 7KM of the race are run in a wind-sheltered environment.

A few days later, we went back to get some more shots, but by then, the flowers were past their prime. Jo Ann looks as great as ever though...
CSX 777 pulls out of the siding at Poplar NC, after a well executed meet with the Southbound grain train. The 777 is returning empty coal cars North on the former Clinchfield.
This is a photograph from the annual Ardagh Moydow Glen Community Games 5KM and 10 Mile road races, fun runs, walks and challenges which were held in the heritage village of Ardagh, Co. Longford, Ireland on Tuesday 27th December 2016 at 13:00. This year's race featured some changes from previous years: the introduction of chip timing, a new start and finish in the middle of the village at the community center and, a slightly amended route.

The 10 mile race takes in the local 'Ardagh Mountain' which is a 1 mile continuous climb starting at the 2.5 mile mark of the 10 mile race. The 5KM race takes a loop around the heritage village of Ardagh. Overall this is a very well organised race with accurate courses, good marshalling and traffic control and excellent after race refreshments. The 10 mile race is one of the longest road races held during the Christmas period anywhere in Ireland and has appeal to runners who want to add a longer distance race to their festive calendar of running.
The weather at this year's race was much more suitable to road racing. In 2014 there was very frosty icy weather and last year in 2015 participants were given a very very windy day with heavy rain at the finish of both races.
Ardagh is probably County Longford's most picturesque village with many historical and architecturally important features. It is located about 6 miles from Longford town.

Bolts inside the water pump housing are huge pain in the ***. Fortunately, with an impact screwdriver and a very small sized angle grinder I got the job done.
This is a photograph from the first running of the Clonard GAA 4 Mile Road Race, Fun Run and Walk which was held in the village of Clonard, Co. Meath, Ireland on Wednesday 2nd August 2017 at 19:30. This race was organised to faciliate the continued fund raising for the wonderful new GAA facilities at St. Finian's Park - the new home of Clonard GAA. The race itself was an outstanding success with over 400 participants including over 230 participants having chip timing. The new GAA facilities provided ample car parking and space for refreshments and mingling afterwards.
The four mile distance is something of a novelty these days on the road racing circuit and the large field shows that the distance holds an attraction for runners, joggers and walkers.
The race started and finished at the new GAA pitch and incredibly only 20 meters separated the start and finish line of the race. The route took the participants east bound on the R148 towards Enfield through the village of Clonard and onwards to take a right turn onto Keegan's boreen to cross the M4/M6. The route then took a right turn on the Clonard Edenderry road to return back to Clonard with another crossing of the M4/M6 motorway.
As this was the first running of the race the support from local athletes was very visible.
Credit must go to Clonard GAA and Clonard Community Council who provided excellent organisation on all aspects of the race including event management, parking and race stewarding with the Gardai. This race can be an example to every other club in Ireland in how a properly organised race can be run.

Here's a truly fun yet elegant necklace that features an authentic antique timing mechanism that I "traded in" for the tail of this magnificent ornate brass dragonfly! I think this brass finding is one of THEE prettiest I've ever seen! If you look very closely at the timing mechanism you will see the F and the S that stand for "fast" and "slow". There was originally a tiny hand that could be adjusted for the perfect timing for the pocket watch! Where the "new tail" is attached I added some tiny wheels and gears!
This beautiful little timing mechanism has a tiny crystal jewel on it AND 3 antique pocket watch gears dangling from it!
The delicate antiqued brass chain measures 26" long and the pendant portion adds another 3" or so. The beautiful little floral clasp was too pretty to put in the back so it fastens in the front! I would be happy to shorten or lengthen the chain just for you!

The 5KM race takes a loop around the heritage village of Ardagh. Overall this is a very well organised race with accurate courses, good marshalling and traffic control and excellent after race refreshments. The 10 mile race is one of the longest road races held during the Christmas period anywhere in Ireland and has appeal to runners who want to add a longer distance race to their festive calendar of running.
The weather at this year's race was much more suitable to road racing. In 2014 there was very frosty icy weather and last year in 2015 participants were given a very very windy day with heavy rain at the finish of both races.
Ardagh is probably County Longford's most picturesque village with many historical and architecturally important features. It is located about 6 miles from Longford town.

We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. We do not charge for our photographs. This also extends to the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page. The explaination is very simple.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. Philipp Geist’s still- and video projection mingle with the facades and their means of representation. Through projecting light and images into architectural environments filled with fog, his interventions in architectural environments visualize and – at the same time - cloak the space they inhabit. Intersecting media and urban landscapes into new hybrid conditions, their experiential attraction reflect on the ephemeral and dynamic qualities of artificial consistencies.
“Timing” is a site-and time-specific work, made for GLOW and made of projected words woven into the space like a poetic carpet and at the same time, as social radar. The work will be completed by the visitors walking in the projection field.
